Cool Yokomo Works '91 & 4wd RC10 racing

Came home to Newcastle, UK for Christmas and brought a couple of cars with me. I miss racing so much so had to - much to the dismay of Mrs. Danb4.

So I built a Yokomo Works 91 and also packed the 4wd RC10 original Worlds/Team Car in my hand luggage and flew 3800 miles on the 18th Dec.

I raced at Benfield on the 19th and Seaham on the 21st....such fun! Wish I could race every week.

The Works 91 was really great and I actually lead the A final for a while from 5th qualifying spot on the grid - several silly mistakes on the last laps and I finished 3rd overall....not bad for a 24ish year old car with no slipper clutch....my competitors were all 2014 spec X-rays/ae/Durangos so I was happy. The '91 ran an 8.5 motor with LiPo saddles and original kit Yokomo shocks. It's the green Masami style shell with clear wing.

I just had to try the 4wd RC10 too - the transmission held up great but the handling needs work - a short clip of it in action - a guy at the start of the heat picked it up wondering why there was a supposed '2wd' in the 4wd class.....made me smile.

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Dan

Nice race, Dan, exciting to watch. Shame about the small errors later on in the race, you certainly had the power and skill to beat the other cars with that Yokomo.

Seems like the RC10 could do with some better rear traction, I get the impression it suddenly would swing it's rear, without warning.

That looks ace. It's a great feeling racing a vintage car against the latest stuff and doing well with it.

I'm going to start rebuilding my 870 in the new year. I just hope I can source some parts that it needs.

did know you'd traveled so far! Probably because we were to busy gassing about 20yr old rc cars!

Great to meet you and a pleasure to see the old dogfighter in action, never mind the 4x4 RC10!

Dusted off the old cat2000 and losi xx, nicads look abit dodgy tho!

Great to meet you too...get that Cat 2000 running and video it!

Your lad had some good vintage knowledge too. Great to see.
