Question £170-£220 RTR 1/8 Buggys: Opinions?

Just looking at 1/8 buggys and noticed the Kyosho Inferno MP7.5 Sports MK3 is £179 RTR. There were a few others also around the £190 but the question is are they any good for that amount of cash? I'm not talking competition winning performance, just something that can be used at the track as a good entry level machine.

Just a quick list of the rtr's in the price range:

Kyosho Inferno MP7.5 Sports MK3 Readyset £179
Hong Nor Ultra LX-1 Buggy RTR £179
HoBao Hyper 7 TQ 28 Sport RTR £229
GV Models Hunter RTR Buggy £175
HPI Trophy 3.5 RTR Buggy £189

Radio gear isn't a factor so its mainly the quality of the car and engine and parts backup.

Any opinoins would be great

OF the ones you have loked at the Hyper 7 TQ by a mile!!! Thye best pound for pound RTR 1/8th buggy around.

Three to choose from - TQ21 £189.95 - TQ Black £194.95 - TQ28 £199.95

all are absoltuley fabulous in their own way, for all the reasons you mentioned this car in our opinion comes out on top (quality of car, quality of engine and spares backup)

Odd, BT rules out DNS then as I am on BT also with no issues (as always, BT broadband rocks).

And a DNS issue would be site specific, hence I suggested it...

i have an xtm xt2. the body is a bit old school but the build quality is great, its a realy strong car, i can't break it despite numerous huge crashes. it also has a .25 engine

When i was in the same situation as you I was told the Hyper 7 was the best to buy.
So I bought the hyper 7 21 tq sport for 169.99 from modelsport in march 2008, since then I have been to races almost every sunday and bashed it loads in my garden.

When I first got it I was shocked at the setup, there was virtually no oil in the shocks and the whole thing was leaning to the engine side, also all the diffs had the same rubbish grease. So after some quality oils in the diffs and the shocks and spacers to balance it, it felt and looked much better.

At the track it was incredible, i was able to keep up with guys using OS max v spec engines (that cost more than my car!!) as wells as £300+ pro buggies such as xrays, hong nor xcr1 etc....
In fact i posted the 3rd or fourth fastest time on the track!

However it is breakable sadly, I had to change the pull start 3 times and ended up buying a starter box, then the engine borke (the front bearing broke and that damaged the engine internals) also i broke a few front hubs and knuckles in extreme crashes.

It seems to me from the other newbies who had bought the hong nor lx one were slighltly better off in terms of toughness as their cars hardly ever had any problems, but definitely the hyper 7 21 is faster!

So all in all it is an ok car, I hope this rant has help

Cheers guys, If I get one it'll probably be the begining of next year ready for the new season but from what everybodys said the Hoboa seems to be ontop.

It also seems like you can get a good 1/8 for very little money, I paid £180 for my MT2SS 1/10 and its rubish so I was expecting the bigger stuff to be even worse so you guys have put me straight on that one

I run indoor 1/10 but I don't want to mucky my 501 so a 1/8 would be ideal for me to get out and get DIRTY! Muahaha.
