Default cr2 gearbox brace and gearing

Hey guys.

Having Built a cr2 finally was just looking at various pictures of them and was curious how essential is a gear box brace?is this dependant on which batterty strap/bar you use?if you use to seperate battery straps running the length of the car this act as a brace/stiffener?

Gearing

What's most common sproket size guys were/are using with the cr2's,going to be runnng between a 10 and 8.5 motor. I'm south east based so either maratime or eden park would probably be the nearest track.or a good sprocket size that suits a manner of tracks.

Many thanks

Hi you need to brace the gearbox one way or the other the main two ways are either top of gearbox to battery strap or the little L shape bracket that fits to the motor plate then to chassis you MUST brace or you will keep stripping the front screws at the front of the gearbox under power.

Gearing for the cr2 is mainly 78t spur with the external idler gear i ran 24t pinion with a 7.5 motor.

Hope this helps matey.

Awsome this is a great help, going to go with the motor plate brace first found a nice lttle right angle I can used may look at a tip one latter.

As for gearing,I'm using a 4 gear tranny with a gear diff don't no if this makes any difference but this is a great help to get me started.

Should be no difference in the gearing - the extra idler just changes the rotation, the ratio between the layshaft & diff outputs remains the same

I only run the 'L' shape bracket too - seems fine.
