Default Getting my 25 year old Grasshopper fixed

I hope someone can help...

My little boy is desperately keen to get my original Grasshopper repaired and start racing himself.

Can anyone point in the direction of a good repairer?

It had a mild fire and melted the battery in its last competitive outing in 1985!!!

Thanks,
Rich.

www.goldstarstockists.com and www.fusionhobbies.com are pretty good for Tamiya spares as is the inevitable ebay.
But they were pretty weak and crap back in the 80's do you really want it to race again?

Thats not very nice is it !

Probably the best option with the high cost of Tamiya spares in this country its to just buy a new one.

The Grasshoper is one of the many 80's cars Tamiya have re released.

But if your son really wants to get back in to racing and still wants to use a Tamiya then there are many better cars than the grasshopper.

If you would like more information then please pm me.

The TRF201X and DB01R are my race cars.

Sorry, but it's true! I am old enough to have raced with/against them.
But I agree not the warmest of welcomes and apologies for that.
Does TORCH run any vintage competitions, it'd be a blast to run it in a vintage series.

Also agree that there are better cars out there for less money than a new grasshopper, and that restoring an old one can be costly (and personally only worth it for sentimental reasons).

As long as you and your son are having fun that's the main thing.

(I run a DB01 as well)

Guys, Thanks very much for replying. I had a quick look at parts prices and I guess you are all right.. I should just buy a new one. We'll try to make it over to a Sunday Race Meeting and see if my boy actually likes the racing. Thanks again, Rich.
