Default Cougar SV2 build help

Hi there,

I have been working through building up my Cougar SV2 and everything has been coming together well apart from one bit.

When building the diff, because of my stupidity I fitted in the e-clip thingy into the female diff housing without putting the screw/washers through first and now the flippin thing is a pain to get out - does anyone have a trick up their sleeve that can help getting the e-clip out?

Cheers, Mark

My advise really is to get a set of these:

and i'd get those exact ones to be honest. I had some cheap ones before, and often they are too big. I ground them down, and they were kind of ok, but it's so much easier with a set that are the correct size.

Hi Mark,
MattW is right, there is nothing like having the right tool for the job.
I have a set of these circlip pliers, so if you don't want to splash out or want to get it sorted quickly you can borrow mine, PM me and I'll tell you where I live (not far from Towcester grass track).
Cheers,
Nige

Mark. If its not easy to meet up with Nigel your more than welcome to borrow my circlip pliers too, I work in MK so can meet one lunchtime or after work (typical Telstar won't be on for a couple of weeks).

Before I got mine i used two 1.5mm hex drivers. Not ideal but did the trick when I built the cat diffs. Just be carful the circlip doesn't ping off and fly round the room.

You may find that if the circlip has been under tension in the wrong outdrive its lost its tension. Might be a good idea to order a spare with your next order, I used my last one on a rebuild the other week otherwise you could have had that.

Thanks for the advice guys. I managed to find a pair of pliers right for the job in the garage, and those, some harsh language and patience has might the build was able to continue. Planning to run it tonight at silver stone, so fingers crossed
