My street must have been done some time ago. Next door aint going to like it, he used to flash his cash buying big new £40k audi,s and landrovers as seen on his drive but he lost the lot when his buisness went belly up. All he,s got now is a tatty 1995 ford. This is going to make him scream.

Is it just me, or does anyone find it just a little bit creepy that you can snoop up and down streets looking at people's houses and all that?

Bloody impressive though.

What I find impressive is my car is parked outside my house and my works at the same time!

Its what you'll do when you see someone elses car on your drive with your wife at home that'll be impressive.

Yeah that would be mightily impressive considering I'm not married.

Pwned? I don't think so.

Im being really old and boring here.....this is crap! Ive just had a quick look at my area and you can see into some peoples houses, and back gardens. People will be getting sheds broken into all over the place.
My house isnt on as i dont seem to be able to find it.
Surely this must be illegal to spy on people like this?

Im not normally bothered by stuff like this but whats the point of it anyway?

Seems like a thread for Grumpy old Men....

In the end, the pics are irrelevant, as they are out of date by the time they go online, if your not happy about your place being on there, you can request google to remove it. In the end, it isn't going to tell scum that your in or not. The pic of my house is just under 2 years old, so got my old car on the drive.

As for usefulness, I have used it to find out which end of a road a Scout Hut was, and even with postcodes, you can check for business locatation etc.

I love street view, admittedly I use it more in other countries to see stuff I’d never otherwise see. There’s loads of cool stuff to check out, like the ports at Long Beach for example. I've also used it loads of times to find places I need to visit and where to park, and have used it to refresh my mind of various routes.

For anyone like-minded this is a cool site: http://www.gearthblog.com/

Oh and credit where due, I found a friend's car with the number plate showing, emailed google and in 12 hours they'd blurred it.

I too was a bit pissed off that after putting up an extra foot of fencing to keep nosey buggers out the google van now gives a clean shot of my back garden. How high is that thing.
Oneof its more usefull purposes along with google earth is that you can check out the area your holiday hotel is before you book it. No need to believe what the brouchers say anymore. I,ve used this before and it saved me from booking hotels in dubious area,s.
You could also post the postcode of your local track for others to see.
