Default testing ESC?

Hi. Apart from plugging it all together, is there a way of testing an ESC to check it's integrity, and that it's electrically sound?

Not really. Even on a test bench, you would need to power it up to figure it out. You could test the motor connectors to check if they are shorted out but it won't tell you much other than it is shagged if they are shorted. It would not give a clean bill of health if they are not as it wouldn't tell you the rest of the circuit.

Brushless? Yes, if you have a DVM you can check to see if the phases are shorted out.

Make sure you've not got a motor or battery attached to the ESC and that it's not plugged into the RX.

Set the DVM to resistance and put the +ve DVM lead on the +ve battery terminal on the ESC and the -ve DVM lead to each of the motor phases in turn and look at the resistance each time.

Now put the -ve DVM lead to the -ve battery terminal and using the +ve DVM lead measure the resistance to each phase.

If any are under about 200ohms then you have a problem.

That's a good way to check for shorted FETs
