B4 - Change, keep or convert to mid motor?
Hi All,
I have a B4 Factory Team that I have dusted down and want to race again. Should I keep it as is or convert it to a mid motor layout? If best to convert to mid motor then which upgrade kit? Centro C4.1, X-Factory X6 Squared or Team Xtreme Vega? |

ive just sold my b4 as i tryed a mid mount car and preferd its handling.i cannot see the point in buying a conversion kit at £160 when you could get a new mid mount car for that and sell your b4 to recoup some money.only way i would convert it is if you did it by buying the parts over time for a centro ,neal lewis is selling nice well made chassis on here then buy other parts as you go along.up to you, some are still very quick with b4`s it just didnt suit my driving style(style in the loosest sense of the word)

Hi
If you are in Southampton then hopefully you are going to race at TORCH? If so then a mid motor will go better than rear on our track as it is fairly high grip. However, I have to ask how much race experience do you have? If you have raced before and were an average club driver or better then probably worth go mid motor. If just starting out then you really are not going to notice any difference so probably best to save your cash until you have decided you are enjoying it and want to carry on. Of the the 3 I have had both the c4.1 and x6 squared. I would say the c4.1 was the better of the 2 but there is a new x6 cubed coming out which I imagine will be very competitive. Vega cars do always go well at TORCH. Also not sure whether budget is an issue for you but all the conversions are around £200 which is the price of many new mid motor cars, losi 22, schumacher sv, durango 210, yokomo etc and you could always sell the b4. Just something else to think about? Best bet is to pop down and see us one sunday. PM me if you want any info. Cheers Rob

X6 Cubed, here any day now.
Not sure on the conversion kit price. But, as mentioned, just race it for now and see how you do. A guy at our club can win driving anything, even the B4 predecessor, you'll have fun either way.

Thanks for all the advice!
Rob, I have experience of rc cars and came along to TORCH about 5 years ago so I do plan to race at TORCH. I will pop down at some point (I work shifts so can't make it every week). Best get my calculator out and do some sums to see what the best option is. I will need to update my electrics as well. |

I converted. For me i worked out that selling the b4 and all its spares and then buying somthing else i would then have to spend more to be where i was with the spares and tools due to ae imperial ect that i had to start with. So just getting a conversion was the best option.
But one thing that you could do is just buy a full c4 off here and then you got 2 buggys . Wish i did that. |

Having a large stash of B4 spares and shocks meant going down the X6 route was a no brainer.
Bought mine 2nd hand off here, both of them. Still got enough parts to build a B4 if I wanted to.
