Hi all,

After seeing Chrissy C couger 2 restore it brought back some fond memories as i raced these back in the day. I had the Team and Works versions. So after searching I finally found one. Well it was in a state of well lets say well ragged dont think it was a racer who had it.

So i have totally stripped it and working from ground up. The chassis and a few bits have been sent to HYDRO-MAN RichyUK on here for him to work his MAGIC on the chassis.

Thanks..........Mark.

Ok,

I will be doing a rebuild thread on my Couger 2. I will be posting pics of the build starting with the gearbox, diff layshaft etc..

After finding some brand new Couger 2 instructions and original sticker sheet both in packet I have started the restore of the Couger 2.

Pics later.

Ok, so a little update on the Couger 2 rebuild/restore. While im waiting for the chassis and side plates to be finished, I thought I would start cleaning up the old plastics and fit new where needed and also what I could fined.

So the front hubs have been stripped cleaned and have ceramic bearings fitted. The front end also has a new front bulkhead, new hinge pins complete, new front hinge pin holder, new front carbon fibre shock tower and new purple nuts. The front wishbones are mint so was really lucky as the rest of the Couger 2 was well used so I think these must have been replaced at some point.

The rear also has new rear hubs, new rear carbon fibre shock tower, new rear hinge pins and new nuts. Again the rear wishbones are mint and like the front must have been changed as both do not represent the condition of the couger 2.

Next on the list of cleaning is the ballraced steering posts and parts and the steering mechanism.

So here are a few pics so far and as soon as the chassis and side plates come I will go back to building and completing the gearbox.

Dont tell the Mrs ive stole the pastry brush

Mark,

Please remove this thread and pictures at once - your pictures are far better than mine

Looking good so far mate. Rich is a top guy and will sort the chassis out nicely, what design have you gone for?

Any before shots of the car?

Bets,
Chris

Hi Chris,

HAHAHAHAHAHAH I will remove. Ive gone for black and candy purple carbon on chassis, candy purple side plates for gearbox and black and candy purple on diff/belt adjusters and layshaft bearing holders.

Got a penguin-rc body shell ( steve_haskins) on here and must say for the price the quality is fantastic. You get body, nose, wing and side parts for the wing.

Chassis and parts are at Hydro-mans as we speak so cant wait for results.

The only thing I didnt do was take before shots but ive asked Richyuk to take pictures of the chassis before and after to give you idea of the condition.

So on with the clean, the ballraced steering has been stripped clean and ready for chassis. All bearings through out the couger 2 have been cleaned and oil has been placed inside. The shocks have been stripped, lard has been removed and fresh oil installed.I have been able to get new pro shock bodies for the rear (dark green) but havent been able to get new bodies for the front, these do have slight marks on the top. So if anyone has a set for the front new or mint please pm.

I'm enjoying this re-build You are a man after my own heart... very neat & meticulous!

Good to see that you are using the alloy shock seal housings - these transform what are quite average shocks into much better ones ;-)

Also I need to find some new old-style black ball cups for my C2 Works - as mine has the incorrect grey 'ballgrippers'

I have just had to put these on. These are brand new front Aerodisc wheels in packet. I also found a set of 2 row stud (green) 2.2 tyres brand new in packet for the wheels.

I would like to thank my fellow oople brother Carlton (MOOZO) for helping me out with the front wheels.

I also have brand new rears coming soon as well

Hi all,

Just a update on a few new bits posted through my door

I now have a complete new set of aerodisc wheels, brand new body, wing, nose and wing tips. New 2 row stud in green for front and new spikes in red for rear although I have new full spike, mini spike and mini pin so havent made a choice yet.

Also managed to get a set of new white rear springs to match new grey spring fronts, and I have managed to get a new transmission case for the gear box.

I would like to thank Northy for the rear wheels and transmission case.
I would like to thank steve_haskins for the shell and including the nose just like the original top stuff mate.

The chassis and bits should be ready soon so the real build will start then

I used to run back in the day, Rear white and yellow front in wet. Rear yellow and blue front dry. On grass that is, with either TR32 HARD on rear wet and the 2.2 two row stud on front studs wider apart. Dry Green mini spike rear and the standard two row stud studs closer together. Some good results with that. Others may use greys up front.

Default Start of the PAINT !!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I am still waiting on chassis and bits, but its not gonna be long So I thought I would start the paint.

Now thinking of a scheme was a little tricky as I didnt want a modern paint scheme. So I went for what I used to have back in the day. Inspired by the Works paint scheme of when that was first shown.

Ive been spraying bodies since 1990 so have some knowledge . I have started with the wing. I was lucky to get brand new in packet original decals and instructions and when it came to it thought should I use them. Oh well I did and placed them where I had them back in the day. I will fit wing tips once wing and tips have hardened.

Colours used are Pearl Purple, White, Black and Fluorescent Orange. Hope you LIKE........

So here is the start of the paint the wing and body to follow.
