What's the diff ratio on the car? 2.5 like a b44?

How big is the track? gearing is all about balancing the size and layout of the track.

Randy, internal ratio is 2.35 and the track is slippery clay, medium size. I was running a Castle creations mamba max 5700Kv system in it before with a 9.87 FDR. I was thinking, since the 7.5T is rated at 6100Kv, of booting the FDR up to 10.5-11, and take it from there?

What do you think? Higher, lower?

Thanks for your dedicated help on this board as well as on others!

I have here now 3 RS Pro ESC that are dead or flippin'.

1st: DIA, had suffered from a mis-connection of the wires on the lipo, which is quite deadly, as we all know, especially of you only discover your mistake after about 10 seconds

2nd: Flipping: this is my oldest ESC, raced it for years, .. and now does strange things, looses power, makes the engine get very hot, even destroyed an BL engine,

3th: Flipping: not functioning properly all the time, can run smoothly for some time, almost all the stint and then suddenly "loose connection"-LED-signal .. all though the Spektrum-receiver still shows his conecction-led AND the steering still functional.

ANy chances of recovery/repair if I send those at Tekin?

It really depends on your esc settings. KV for Kv can only work when comparing sensorless motors really.

I'd stick with a FDR around 10.2 or so to get started. Run something like this setup:

2nd: Flipping: this is my oldest ESC, raced it for years, .. and now does strange things, looses power, makes the engine get very hot, even destroyed an BL engine, This sounds like a sensor issue. Use the RS's sensor cheker feature to determine the cause. Also perform a factory reset on the unit, start over with settings.

3th: Flipping: not functioning properly all the time, can run smoothly for some time, almost all the stint and then suddenly "loose connection"-LED-signal .. all though the Spektrum-receiver still shows his conecction-led AND the steering still functional. This can be a few things. First guess is your DSM is browning out the receiver. What steering servo are you using? Which DSM system?

Lowie, thoughts and repairs in red.

about 3th ESC: I'm using a Spektrum Radio DX3R and Spektrum receiver + Spektrum capacitator (because indeed I had issues in the past while using Savox-servos. But after the use of that capacitator I never experienced any errors anymore)

I'll test the 2nd one.

. Mr Randy, do you mean I should not send it in?
Or should I send it in and will I get a new ESC for a lowered price? (Bacause AFAIK a new RS Pro costs about $200.)

If you're using the mini spektrum receiver try one of the new DSM2 capable ones. I had a micro do just as you describe to me.

#3, send it in, for $105 you'll get a brand new one.

Hi, just looking for some clarification on something...

The RS Pro can be set so that i can run a motor in reverse orintation without the need for an extra idler gear can't it?

I hope that makes sense...

Many thanks
Chris

yes, on the hotwire you can set it to reverse rotation.

Alfonzo, yes, you can hook up any brushless motor to the R1Pro and the RS, the major difference is, the RS can use the Sensor harness. Yes, if you have the hotwire, you can connect the R1 to your laptop, update the firmware, have much finer adjustments to the different adjustments too.
I'm still a little confused. So can the Pro run sensored motors, or just the RS? Is the Pro better spec? (in terms of resistance, etc). I want the option to run both sensored and sensorless if possible.

The RS and RS Pro are the same basic esc, the Pro having a lower resistance and can take hotter motors. BOTH can run either sensored or sensorless.

Is there a normal/offroad firmware? Like Speedpassion has separate stock and 'normal' firmware I would also like to have 'normal' firmware. I really deeply hate the advanced Timing and Boost thingies and I can't seem to get the timing shizzle off, it always feels a need to come in and give it an extra push.
I don't want a rocket on the straight or a sudden gain in speed.
Just a normal, smooth linear ESC, with good brakes.
I have tried multiple settings and I don't like any of them.

edit:

reading this: http://www.teamtekin.com/hotwire_RS.html

Quote:
Timing Profile: This slider contains 5 preset Timing Profiles for your ESC. Setting any of the 5 preset profiles will automatically put your ESC into Sensored Only mode. Profiles 1-5 are as such:

TP1: Spec Stock "blink mode" 0*timing boost
TP2: 15* Timing Boost / RPM Range 5443-20,016
TP3: 25* Timing Boost / RPM Range 5443-20,016
TP4: 35* Timing Boost / RPM Range 5443-20,016
TP5: 45* Timing Boost / RPM Range 5443-20,016
*RPM Ranges are divided in half when running in 1S LiPO Mode*
You may notice that when any preset Timing Profile is in use, the Timing tab is inaccessible. This is because these presets are just that and are not allowed to be changed. To create your own unique setup, we have provided C1 and C2:
C1: Custom user profile, Timing Boost, Turbo, Turbo Delay, Turbo Ramp and RPM Ranges can all be custom set and saved to this profile.
C2: Same as C1.
*Factory Setting is C2*
Now, C1 and C2 are great for racers running multiple classes with the same chassis or ESC. With these custom profiles you are allowed to save them BOTH in the ESC for later use, as well as the 5 preset profiles. So say you have 17.5 spec, running TP1 "blinky" mode one heat and the next you run 13.5 Pro Stock with the C1 profile. This essentially allows your RS/RSPro to be 2 ESCs in one by simply switching between profiles while swapping motors!
I have to put my ESC in blinky mode ? 'tp1' ?

+ dual mode

please confirm or give additional 'how to'

Blinky mode works fine for some. Simply not using turbo in offroad should be smooth enough without any weird peak'iness in the car.

Default hotwire setup

Hi what is the recomended setup for a 7.5t hpi flux pro motor in a B4 for a track like batley outdoors/grass/astro. Also what sort of gearing should I be looking at. Sorry for all the dumb question this is my first brushless setup. Also the sensor wire that came with the motor is a bit stiff and pop out of the rs pro connection holder has anyone got a solution for this?

Thanks
