I still have and use my wasp 12v soldering iron top bit of kit! got a wasp racing battery case in the shed 2
I only saw the wasp car at the british GP indoors at the NEC, can't remember much as that was a few years ago, but I can remember a fair bit of machined ally.. and the orange belt. I can't remember who the belts were from, but quite a few people had them on the XL and XLS then the procat. May have been SRM ( Pete stevens, who then became pete's awsome products) that them became RW racing errm I think (may be very wrong) in which case some one can correct me Luke burley is on here somewere, he may know something,

Blast from the past
I used to belong to the club in moor lane JNR school and then Sanddown in the late 80s and early 90s. I remember Terry used to call me sunshine what a great bloke reading this thread brought back some great memories we had loads of the wasp kit from what I can remember including the battery boxes. We used to go to the house in Raynes park to buy kit LOL memories memories.

You can still buy the 12v soldering iron as it was bought from wasp by spec racing. Its the only soldering iron i will use trackside as nothing else gets as hot. Great product. I also had various carbon fibre parts for my lazer such as the V battery layout of the cells. Wasp were a great product.

I was in that bit at the back of the house many a time for bits at about 12 years old. Only just got back into racing after all these years now 31 but Sandown was where it all started for me and gave me a bug for life which I have just picked up again.

I have a can of Wasp " New Motor 1 " which I bought in 1996 it's still 3/4 full and got used today to clean out a Tamiya black can motor that I am breaking in. I have a Procat, Cougar and Bosscat in the attic, pretty sure one of them has the Wasp steering, must root them out TMG |

MMS did a lot of the nice black alloy bits for the CAT, as well as Team Tanaplan.
Here is some info and a picture I found of the Fury - hope you like. |

I had a Procat with some Wasp racing delrin or teflon bits which made it way better when I started out in the early nineties. The soldering iron was brilliant too and the motor spray was great too!
Brings back some happy memories of racing in hideously garish Body Glove pullovers wearing some waaaay baggy trousers that were tight at the ankle We looked boss while trying to keep SCE cells from going soft after 3,5 minutes! |
