I had a Tamiya MudBlaster in around 1987/8 ish, put Monster beetle shell and gold wheels on, plus bought the blackfoot shell too. Raced it in 1989 a couple of times, then in 1990 bought a Lazer ZX and started racing properly, struggled with the ZX (It was rough, bought used), so got a Procat soon after.

I remembered some more I had, I sold my Clod buster and bought a Kyosho Double Dare but it was dreadful and put me off everything being young and having saved ALL my money to get it so I left it for a while.

Since then I've had an eight Buggy, I think it was called a Swift ? Distributed by Schumacher and at the same time a Yokomo MR4TC Pro Hara Worlds Edition, and a Tamiya Mini.

Just getting back into it all now

After my tamiya madcap i got a blackfoot. Used to race it as well with my sanwa dash sabre radio. The yellow tamiya oil shocks and a trinity green machine motor. Consistently finished top of B mains trucks.
I bust the body mounts in a crash the day before a race so had the body lashed on with masking tape and picked up the name of "band aid"
Had to sell that to get my rc10T

The first one I remember having was a Tamiya Cheata, but didn't start racing till the Hotshot came along a few years later.

A Grasshopper with a 360 motor. I persuaded my mum that my dad couldn't live without one and she bought it for him as an Xmas present! I dont think he ever got near it.

I had a tyco jet hopper buggy in the 80's. It had a turbo mode on the throttle, up and to the right. Then tamiya nissan king cab. They were the days, when one set of tyres would last the cars life.

My first car was a Grasshopper clone, the Academy Galaxy Buggy. (the one pictured here isn't mine, but I am on the hunt for another one!)
My second car was a Kyosho Shadow. My latest vintage purchase, I actually just bought one the other day. (very stoked about it, too!) Just took a bunch of pics of it this morning:
Kyosho Shadow Score <- clicky
Unfortunately, finding another Galaxy Buggy may prove to be much more difficult!

My first car was a Tandy Porsche 928 forward and reverse thingy, then after much persuasion I got a 2nd hand tamiya hornet which I raced at school Parma 1400scr's blue with red ends!!!! ( if you had these you were a racing god!),then after the usual bunch of bashers I left school and started racing at a proper club-tamiya madcap hopped up to the hilt then a cougar 2 racer then works edition also dabbled with a mantaray then a procat then after 3 years I left to follow beer and skirt.... Now after a return to the hobby I race and run allsorts and after having over 300+cars since I ever started I wished I kept all of them even the rare ones fab2000 cougar 2000,top models hybrid, all the rc10's I've had and last but not least my pb maxima.....only got rid of it due to modern batteries won't fit through it.....

I had a few as a kid but got fedup waiting for the battery to charge for it to only run for 3 minutes

I had a Tamiya Fox and then moved to a Mardave Marauder. Things got no better with that as I used to use a rubber wheel fixed on my dads electric drill held in Black & Decker Workmate. That was better as I used to fill the tank up with the engine running. That was until the throttle jammed one day and it went flat out through my mums greenhouse!

Built a few after that such as the Mardave IC stockcar and an original Mardave Mini but never raced for a further 26 years!

Now 26 years later I have a Mardave V12 and loving it!

my 1st was a tamiya m01 which was a love hate relationship i loved driving it and was pretty competitive but hated it as it cost a fortune for a sheet of plastic parts which you only got 1 of the part you needed to fix it,then it was the same part that kept on braking,
got a tamiya ta03 standard plastic thing then n was my dream car lol was in the a finals every week to with it wish i never swopped it for that preditor dtm now pile of dog muck that was!

Mardave Apache 1984.
I used the cycle six miles with the car, batteries, charger and tools in a back pack and pray that someone would let me use their car battery to charge off of.
