Default Li-po balance

Im struggling with the cat sx at the moment and the only thing different i am running to most people is a light li-po. Im going to try a 4900 MAH trakpower and see what happens with the extra weight. What i want to know is how easy is it to check the balance with lipo one side and electrics the other. I have just read that moving the motor on the motor clamp you can change the balance. Maybe my motor is in the wrong place??
I have spent so much on this car that i have to get it going right.
Any ideas will be much appreciated.

before i switched to the Core RC 5000mah i was running the 3800 orion and didnt have any problems!

I check the left to right weight by sticking some allen drivers on the flat bit of the shock tower at the bottom then lift the car, which ever side drops is the heavier side! Then balance accordingly!

Easiest way I found was to measure the 4 corner weights by using a set of digital kitchen scales (a finely calibrated set from Tesco cost me a whole tenner)
Make sure that you keep the other 3 wheels at the same height as the scales platform.

BTW what are you struggling with?

Ouch!

There seems to be a lot of knowledgeable peeps on this forum who have been running Lipo cars over the winter so I'll not proffer too much (cos I've not run my car very much yet) but I have found the following pointers:
1) the optional narrow link plates and longer turnbuckles make the car more progressive and stop the car loading up and snatching in the mid corner
2) Lowering the outer front pivot by grinding the shoulder off the front yoke will reduce the front bite.
3) Low diffs are better than high over bumps
4) LiPo cars can run crazy light oils / springs (25wt front with red springs and 3 hole pistons and 20wt rears on yellow springs and 3 hole pistons)

I'm sure some of the team drivers who regularly support this forum could post you a setup to try and the great thing about the car is that it is so adjustable.

My next steps are to go wider at the front (to tame the turn in a bit) and reduce the anti-squat to improve bump handling further. Trobule is that there's not enough time to go racing and try it all out

Lastly - maybe try taking some spikes off the front tyres to really tame things down - get to a point where it's stable and predictable and build from there.

Good luck and stick with it

Hey Gnarly, You sure you haven't got a sneeky Cat somewhere? You are dead right with all said. *thumbsup* Less antisquat with high pin is far better than the same antisquat and low pin.

Chris,
Can you write out a setup sheet, host it and post it for us to see? This will be the best way for us to diagnose your "pig on rollerskates", email it to me directly if you can't host it (PM me if you haven't got my email address still). Will always do what I can to help ofcause mate.

Infact, if you bring it to Worksop and we have a load of time like yesterday, then I will gladly take the Cat and fettle/vet it.
