Help i dont know what im doing
I'm new to all this malarky, bought an ESC motor and battery from hobbyking naively expecting instructions.....
Got this ESC http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html I can see ABC on both this and the motor so obviously need to connect those up together, do i just solder the wires onto the gold pots? Or are they supposed to be connected using something other than solder? Also, what's the bit black piece of plastic coming from the + and - terminals? What's the small connector for on the batteries http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html Do i have to strip the wires where the black plastic is and solder them to the wires on the speedo, or should i be using some kind of connector? |

Hi,
Yes, A B C on the ESC shall be connected to A B C on the motor. Most people solder both ends, but if you prefer you can put a connector (tube-banana) somewhere in between, on each of the leads. The "black bit of plastic" is a condenser. The ESC needs it so leave it as it is. You will have to solder the battery + and - to the same posts. The small connector on the battery is for the balance charging. You should have purchased a charger for your Lipos, featuring balance charge mode. It should have a similar connector (female), and hopefully some instruction on how to balance charge your battery. The leads coming with the battery are supposed to be used between battery and charger. You don't have to solder it to the ESC as you would end up having the balancing leads on the ESC (useless). Hope this helps!

Thanks ste so basically I should have bought some connectors to connect the esc to the battery, any ideas what size the connectors need to be for the battery holes?

Look at the 2 pics on the links you posted, the battery leads can be soldered directly to the ESC just snip off the balance leads (the 3 smaller wires) and save.
Your charger will come with charge leads but not generally balance leads, if you have bought 2 or more batteries then you will have balance charge leads that can be spliced into charger leads possibly without connectors or with deans or 4mm banana Look here http://www.giantshark.co.uk/sector/1...es-accessories |

well, my first attempt at this hasn't gone too badly. Got an old receiver (spektrum sr3000) that works with my dads handset.
Soldered the motor and ESC in, although there is no way i'm posting a pic because it looks terrible. Switches on, motor works all looks ok, but ..... When i leave the car sitting there powered on it keeps doing a little jump backwards, i've done the calibration thing with no joy, any ideas? |

is the "neutral" band set correctly on the ESC? Think its meant to be ~6%

I will check but inset everything back to default with the prog card and the light is blinking which I believe means default settings
