Default Tamiya TRF 2WD ????

With the IFMAR worlds in Japan next year, how big do you think the odds are that Tamiya will come with a TRF 2WD buggy ? i think it's rather high. My arguments :
  • Tamiya seems serious with off road racing looking at the TRF501
  • The worlds are in Japan in 2007
  • Their archrivals Kyosho seem to be coming with the new Ultima RB5. Remember, Kyosho came with the ZX5, Less then a year later, the Tamiya factory guys are running the TRF501. Believe me : this is NO coincidence.
  • I have the feeling they are pushing the release date of the TRF501, so they have enough time to surprise us with a 2WD at the worlds.
  • Their factory guys (including Reinhard) have been running B4's the entire year. They didn't do that in previous years so my guess is that they were building 2WD off road experience in their team and did some industrial spying.

What are your thoughts ?

I have a feeling they will only do it if HPI/Kyosho/Yokomo decide to get back into the game. I don't think Tamiya is concerned what class AE/LOSI focuses on.

That's just one of the arguments I mentioned : Kyosho IS coming with a new 2WD.

Or Tamiya might just make another bodyshell for the DF-03 and not include the centre-shaft and front drive-train components and say there - our midmotor 2wd, the Bright Hyena!

Defo a Hyena, well, everybody making laughing Hyena noises as you watch people trying to drive it round....

I would love to see a Tamiya competetion 2wd buggy with lots of aluminum and intricate design. Then I would buy it and throw a 3s lipo pack in it with a 1920/8 Lehner Brushless motor and a Mamba Max.

O' Allah, please let it happen.

Well If the Rumours I'm hearing a True the 501X is being Replaced as I type! The Kit I have is a 49 tamiya Number (Protoype/limited release) so like the 415MSX they'll be releasing a 53 or 59 kit as a full on production version!

Rumours are, new Chassis with cells moved 3mm forward, stronger shock shafts, titanium screw kit as std and front one way!

I do think a TRF 2wd is on the cards too!

I would love for there to be a TRF 2wd, as that would complete the stable,
TRF 415MSX MRE
TRF 415MSX
TRF 501X
A 2wd would replace the B4 yum yum cant wait.

Let me know what you are short of for the MSX as I have most spares for the car, even the pain in the neck to get hold of ones!!! I'm sure that I can hook you up.

I was toying with putting the MRE front one-way in, so I can run the MRE wide-tooth pulley's. I got to source some steering arms, new bearings not sure what else, got to build it back up and see what I am missing.
