Default 48dp Spur for Optima Mid

Hi, does anyone know where I can get a 48dp spur gear from to fit my Optima Mid?
Also, would anyone have any idea what sort of gearing would work for a 19T motor in a mid?
Thanks

The old Optima Mid's pinion was identical to Tamiya's AV pinion now a days. Might want to try out various Tamiya spur gear for TT-01's?!

I have one on my Mid. It's a team tanaplan spur and collor from way back when. Its essentially a collor which allows you to run the standard slipper clutch et al.

I ran an 89 Spur with an 19 pinion with a Revtech 19 Single. If needed I can maybe take a picture of the collar and spur and maybe send you dimensions.

You can run Lazer spurs with the collar too!

Thanks a photo and dimensions would help, I can give RW a call to see what they can do to help then.
Thanks for the gearing tip too.

And any ideas where a Lazer spur can be obtained once I have a collar?!
Thanks

Peter,

You wont have any luck im afraid to say. they are more rare than the optima ones. Best bet would be to get a kimbrough spur gear, I think they do a 96 which should be ok.

Otherwise I may know someone that may be able to make you a mid spur, all depending if they have an original one to use for a mold. I will let you know later on this week.

I don't think you'll get Lazer-size spur gears to fit under the gear cover (if you're using one)

From memory the collar/bushing needs to 4mm ID and 3/8 OD to fit kimbrough style gears.

The collar in the Lazer ZXR and Triumph was 4 x 8mm

A Lazer spur is way too big, put one on a Mid and you'd never get the motor in.

The Mid uses a 75T 0.6 mod spur gear. One option is to get a 48 dp spur around 80 tooth and ream the hole out slightly so you can use a 4x8mm bearing. A better alternative is to contact RW Racing as they made 48dp alternatives back then.

Thanks everyone, I'm getting confused about gearing now!
I will be using a gear cover (when it arrives) and am looking to run a 19T motor, would prefer not to hack the car about though as it's pretty tidy.

I've also spoken to RW and he's said that they can easily make either a suitable spur or a spacer for a spur intended for another car.
The guy was very helpful and thought it was 4mm and that they'd made them years ago with teeth in the 70's range. So there's a chance they are almost 'off the shelf' assuming that I can get the gearing sorted!

Dave (Belsten) does have a spur on his Mid, which would be great for measurements but it's 64dp in that weird material that tended to turn to powder when it stripped!
Thanks again everyone for your help

Taking the size of the standard Mid spur gear (75T, 0.6mod) to get a 48dp spur which is the same overall diameter as the kit gear you want an 85 tooth 48dp spur. This should fit inside the spur gear cover no problem.

I'll measure the collar and can offer the spur (83T) for casting if required (as long as I get it back). The spur is made from a bakerlite type of material which did indeed turn to dust if stripped - and stinks!

I interchange the spurs from the ZXRR on the Mid but dont run gear covers and someone said they are aftermarket 'Wasp' gears but the ZXRRs were my brothers so can't remember.
