Few Questions For a new user
Chaps,
I Finally got round to building and using the Cat SX Lipo last weekend, i took it to PDA and had a ball. I did run into a few teething issues though, I stripped a spur, the mesh looked good so not sure how that happened. My main issue is trying to secure the electrics to the chassis, i use the Losi Exceliron system and for the love of god it wont stay stuck to the chassis no matter how many pieces of tape i use. Even my reciever was parting company far to often which was causing a real headache does anyone have any tips or reccomendations for this i did clean the chassis prior to taping. Im also running 23t pinion on a stock spur it seems good is anyone running different? Cheers |

Go to b and q and buy some no nails tape.
Its £5 but is clear and leaves no residue when you remove it. Did you fit that layshaft i sold you? Matt |

Another trick is to heat the double sided tape up before sticking it to each bit. Hair dryer or hot air gun is best. That always seems to work if you get a problem.

Agree above for the tape solutions. I use Losi tape and it doesnt need warming before use.
As for the spur gear, sounds like your slipper clutch may be set too loose. Slipping more than is needed, generating heat and melting the spur. They are prone to this if you dont set the slipper clutch tight enough. Many people have modded their layshaft and fitted AE Spur gears in replacement. Im still using my Schuey Spur as i havent melted one yet. |

Also clean the chassis/speedo/rx with some motor spray etc to make sure there is no grease etc on them.
I use Losi tape and no probs once clean. As for the spur, the system the Cat uses is very good and keeps the mount very secure, the only time they seem to strip is when the slipper is too loose and the spur slips, heats up and the centre goes out of round and strips. Some people use RW or Associated spurs |

Cheers Guys,
Ive ordered some industrial strength double sided tape and ill order some no nails stuff to. I think your right regarding the slipper clutch it was loose as i had to tighten it up big style!! after doing this i managed around 25mins on it before it died properly, i have ordered another schumacer gear and ill order some AE ones as i bought a layshaft of matt (cheers) Which hasnt been fitted yet. Cheers again ill get some pics up when im finished with it all |

I had problems with stripping spur gears, I bought a schumacher pinion and it has been perfect ever since!!!! 6 months. I tried the associated layshaft and stripped spurs as well!!!
I run a 23/83 on a 6.5 and the power is good! Well good enough for me! Thought I would say it before you lot joined in hahahaha |
