TLR 22 Gear box

Hi can anyone please help I have got to the mid motor gear box assembly and when all the gears, diff and top shaft is in there is a tight spot in the drive when turning the top shaft.
I have also assembled the gears into the rear motor box and it is the same with both idlers. Is this normal will it wear in or have I missed something.

just make sure you havent over done it with the old screw driver as this tends to pull the gearbox out of shape a bit,i run my gear box in with a std 540 tamiya motor on one of my saddle packs,just let it run for 10 mins,make sure it doesnt get hot,it will get warm,after 10 mins it should be as sweet as a nut

Hi Reg I did not put the screws in just push the two halves together on the first attempt but then I thought it would pull in better with screws but it was the same. Was there binding in yours before runing in.?

You get a slight tight spot with most cars when you assemble the gearbox. Tight tolerances combined with injection moulding probably the cause. As long as its not too tight to turn easily with your fingers it will bed in fine after a 5 minute run. I wouldnt worry, mine was the same. I use a small amount of ceramic grease on the gears ( Tamiya ) and also use a small bead on the gearbox casings. When sandwiched together it acts as a non-permanent seal to prevent fine dust and sand particles from getting in.
