Default BRCA SE 4WD Regional Championship RD4 - Sunday 28 August - Plough Raceway

As the title says, Round 4 (of 4) of the 2011 SE 2WD Regional Off-road Championships. As per usual there will also be an Open class to cater for drivers from outside the SE Region and those wishing to run a 4WD around. There will also be provision for Round 4 of the 'unofficial' SE Regional separate SCT & Stadium Truck Championships for 2WD (ONLY!) electric trucks, more details here: http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65214

To be held at Plough Raceway off-road facility on Sunday 28 August 2011.

Track WILL NOT open until approx. 08:30 for practice so please DO NOT arrive too early! The track is on private land at the rear of The Plough Inn, Leigh who we do not want upset by excessive early noise, thank you!

NB - WE HOPE TO BE ABLE TO USE THE SAME TIMING EQUIPMENT AS WE DID AT THE LAST MEETING AT PLOUGH RACEWAY SO BOTH HANDOUTS AND PT'S SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO BE USED - WILL ADVISE IF THESE CIRCUMSTANCES CHANGE!

See you all there, don't forget FREE entry for ALL Juniors, U13's and U16's.

Oh and don't forget your BRCA Membership details please, Membership application forms will be available for non-members to join on the day!

The Plough is a delightful, 16th-century country pub, which enjoys a quiet location set back from the main road, yet within easy reach of the main transport links. The quaint building is of a traditional, local style with very ornate, original window-panes. There is a well-maintained, private garden outside which is great for al fresco drinking and eating in the summer!!

NB - PLEASE, NO BARBECUE'S or OPEN FIRES, ALSO SMOKERS PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THOSE CIGARETTE ENDS, IF THERE IS A RISK OF FIRE HERE PLEASE DO NOT BE THE ONE TO START ONE!

Address: Leigh Road, Hildenborough, Nr. Tonbridge, Kent TN11 9AJ

Located directly on the B245, just a couple of miles northwest of the centre of Tonbridge

How to find the Plough pub: - If you are coming from Tonbridge, head for Hildenborough (B245). You will see Leigh & Penshurst signposted on the left hand side opposite the Flying Dutchman pub. Take this left turn (once on this road DO NOT take the first right signpost for Leigh), keep going straight ahead. Under railway bridge the road will narrow but keep going. The road can be a bit narrow and windy. There is a sharp bend to the right with another lane going straight signposted for the Powder Mills - follow the road to the right and shortly after this the Plough. The car park entrance is just before the pub.
If you're coming from north of Sevenoaks along A21, take exit off A21 for Sevenoaks and Hildenborough and head for Hildenborough (B245). You will eventually (about 2 or 3 miles down that road) see the Flying Dutchman on the left with a road off to the right signposted Leigh/Penshurst. NOTE: There is a road to the right before this one which is signposted for Leigh and Penshurst but please make sure you keep going until you see the Flying Dutchman.

As Ross points out, this is 2WD. - Though there will be open classes if we have enough numbers to make the heats.

Not long been home.
Wanted to say a big thank you to Simon Cook for tirelessly and selflessly running race control today and volunteering for marshalling when need be as well as competing himslef - top job Simon - you are a star Sir!

Also, thanks to Steve Andrews for all his hard work.

Despite the track blowing out and rutting up which did make it almost too random at times, some of the racing today was amazingly close and pretty darn clean given the conditions.

Great to see Andy M having a good time and pushing all day for round wins and the overall too and to Andy L for laying down some tough times to beat.
My personal fave must be the A-1 leg and the race I had with CJ Delves. To be separated by 0.02s in a drag race to the line was awesome - and to be able to race that close with another driver with open wheels on a track that was pretty random in places is a testament to both drivers skills and respect for each other - great stuff.

Just like this opportunity to echo Andy's comments!

Would like to think that Simon is enjoying the experience, he certainly appears to be!

Also a VERY special thank you to Steve Andrews (and his family!) for the preparation of the track during the week leading up to the event. The weather was set very much against them but they still managed to get it done!

Yesterday presented us all with many challenges, the track is desperately in need of some constant wet weather, between races the grass grows at an amazing rate of knots but as we saw yesterday there's no moisture getting into the sub-surface!
All that being said, as Andy highlighted, the conditions did produce many good races and some amazingly close finishes!

Next job, final Championship tables and then 2010 Formula's!

Glad you lot all enjoyed it. - Makes it worth while.

There was some great racing given the track, closest finish ever, wasn't Andy and CJ only being seperated by 0.02s, it was in the sencond leg of the A - for 9th and 10th!! James Cliford, and someone else (the name escapes my right now sorry) - the timing system registered it as a draw and awarded them both 9th!! - I've never seen that!!

Was a top season

James Clifford AND Garry Brace BOTH 13/5m 16.87, like Simon said BOTH drivers got 9 points!

Maybe we should start timing down to 1000ths of a second like some others do!

NB - Final Regional Championship tables have been circulated to ALL participating clubs and have already been posted here: http://www.edenparkraceway.com/

I'll try and come up with some sort of season summary after we got past this weekends Junior/Veteran/F2 End of Season Finals!
