Default New, racing - What to buy?

Hello all,

was on the msuk forum and got told about this site. I had a grasshopper 2 as a kid (raced at frodsham) and moved up to a losi xxx s as an adult though never raced it. years on I want to get back involved. Southport is local enough for me and im advised that the 1/10 2wd off road is well supported. I guess any car choice is subjective but I would be grateful of any reviews of competitive cars in this class...reading up and speaking to a few it appears the cougar, losi 22 and dex 210 are decent options? Any info or any moer options gratefully appreciated....thanks in advance....

I don't think you would go far wrong with any of losi 22, Durango 210 or a sv2!

All these are popular with drivers at Southport. Maybe pop along one day and have a poke and prod of a few cars and see which you like.

If you go to Southport have a look at Nick Caro's RB6 ... I can assure you that after experiencing one of those nothing else will do!!

if u can aford it go for the rb6 if not then the dex210 or sv2 but stay away from the losi 22 dont handle so good oh and centro b4 1 are good but the conversion to the centro is costly 159 pounds

Check out the results on www.srcc.co.uk as the top driver has a 22, so it can't be that bad.

Ps I drive/crash a Durango.

in all honesty im sure i wont be good enough for some time to notice a huge difference, that said id always try and get something decent so i know its only me to blame! (or the track / conditions / earths rotation / temperature etc.....)

HI tony, names Gavin Johnson, I wasnt at frodsham years, was about 6 months i went there for and that was about 16 years ago...I remember a lad called robin, think he worked in steve webbs? Only took my grasshopper 2 there, it used to be busy, was good but I was young and mine felt more of a toy than a racer so gave up after a bit..bought the xxx s years later but never got to racing it...

and no havent been to southport yet, just chatted to a few on here and on msuk about numbers...only about 30 mins for me so not bad at all..

Iv race at Frodsham a few times with a supastox since the outdoor season finished but hadn't been there since the late 90's until then, its not the club it once was unfortunately.
The closest off road club to me is Oswestry that runs in the week (Thu night)
for weekend racing you wont go far wrong with Southport around here, its a good club with some great guys involved.
I mainly race in the Midwest Region now but try to get over to Southport when I can.

Default losi

i have had many over the last year, loved my losi 22 and it handled great. as does the sv/sv2, the rangos seem to go well. the RB6 yes, the DB1 to. also the Centro/C4.1 is awsome. There are not really any bad ones. its subjective like you said.

The losi 22 i had(only just sold it), was awsome, rock solid and almost never broke anything. great one to have for returning as will handle any little misshaps you happen to have while easing the thumbs back into the race mode. lol...

welcome back to the RC world.....

Tartman, thanks for that, i think your right and at my level its about getting something solid and getting involved again, that said i want to be competitive as quick as i can so a car that i can grow with for a bit should work ...looking forward to it....everyones been great for info so makes it that little bit easier..

and matt cheers for the offer but struggling this week, may try and get there next week if theres one on?

Also got a 22, and it's competitive against any of the others, it's also got one huge advantage over the competition... it's strong to the point of being silly. All last season i only broke one rear a-arm. And i crash a lot :P
