Default WHY DO I KEEP STRIPPING MY SPUR GEAR?

I race a Cat SX on an indoor carpet track, it's very tight, lots of on/off throttle, and there's alot of traction (I use foams)... I know, not really buggy territory, but I don't get chance to race outdoors much.

Although it's been shelved for a while, the last two outings I stripped the spur gear because the centre of the spur seems to have warped/melted causing it to move off centre.

I was wondering what could be causing this? Slipper too tight, or could it be something else that's worn out causing it to happen? Before I put a new one on I thought best do some research as think it'll do the same again if I don't adjust something.

Many thanks,
Jason.
