I've just got my first batch of cells through from the Doctor (latest spec 4200 SHV's), the figures are nuts!

Half of me is looking forward to running them and the other half a little scared. The extra voltage will be like dropping a wind at least!!!

Just got to track down some battery bars tomorrow and build at the track, anyway must get packing.

Hi,

I'd like to know the right cut-off voltage to discharge the IB 4200 SHV's, I read here and there 1,1v, 0,9v, 0,6v, 0,5v,...,...
So, please share your experience, thanks!:thumleft:

Defo, ran them today at Batley, ran a 11*2 checkpoint with tiny brushess and car was fast as anything. Quicker than Tom's 10*2 he was running.

Very pleased and would confidently recommend to anyone. Email Dave, he's very helpfull indeed!

Dan

Do people equalize a lot with these cells then ? I really must confess to never doing anything but charging my cells. I neve discharge (unless its by accident and I press the wrong button)

I am finding I am going soft (oooerr) toward the end (oooerr) of my runs (oooerr - enough), at the moment in 4wd. I think I have 1 or more cells in my packs which are dying prematurely like after 4/4.5 mins. I noticed it in a couple of packs last weekend.

Jim, you would definately bennefit from equalising before use, but to get the best advantage out of it, before your next run, drop your cells down, tray them, charge, discharge to give them a cycle, then just slap them in the tray an hour or so before charging, should give you better punch through the run, and not going soft at the climax (ooooerrrr)

Yeah after advice from Dave I'm going to stop discharging after a run and actually put some back in if I think they are very low, then discharge and equalise before use, maybe not every time due to logistics but when I can.

Rich Lowe is very confident that these cells self discharge more than any others previous. If he discharges and smart trays them after a race, then he can often get false peaks when charging next time on almost new cells.
