Any emerging consensus yet re LiPo orientation, or is it too early?
I'm seeing quite a lot of early-builds like the one above with a lateral (across the car) LiPo layout and not so many with a longitudinal layout, which brings the battery wires perilously close to the spur. I would have thought that a longitundinal layout would be preferable because it keeps the weight more aligned with the central axis of the car, despite the LiPo not being purely centrally located.

I've gone for having the lipo across the car at first, as I think it's possibly better for bumpy tracks, but my wires are long enough to go lengthways.
To try and stop it being a "wire muncher" as a mate called it, I knocked up something with an old Hotshot ariel mount & a bit of ariel tube to keep the wires away from the spur.

I started with the baterry across, to test different battery location, forword and back.

good idea, I think I will screw a body post or something on that same screw hole to guide the wires around.

@Paultje040: is that servo mount coming from the Bmax4? Or is it a special YZ-4 mount? My first thought was the Bmax mount was not a fit, but I must admit I did not look deeply into it.

Crikey - everywhere you look on the car is an accident waiting to happen - belts and spur and associated pulleys all totally exposed and wires running close everywhere....
Build one of these and wire it badly at your peril! |

Ha ha, love the irony of spending over 300 quid on a car and then using "an old Hotshot ariel mount & a bit of ariel tube to keep the wires away from the spur".

Yes, its a B-Max4-III servo mount. I took off the little pin. fits just fine. (The YZ mount has 2 "feet". have a look at the manual, it shows a chassis with the bmax4 style mount. 2 screwholes and a pin-hole. The changed the chassis after testing with the bmax mount.) Looking at the picture of the chassis on MIBO, it has the same holes.

The speedo fan is a little close to a belt where i've mounted it, but its doesn't touch, and the gel tape will hold it securely. I think you are just trying to put yourself of getting one to add to your collection ;-)

Will it offer enough strength without the pin hole?
In fact when I am typing this I think I will just drill a small extra hole in my chassis in stead of cutting it of Quote:

Yes. Fit is good. So if you have a B-Max4 III mount lying around and don't want to spend a truckload of money on a new mount - go for it. It's easy to do.
