Default Lipo

Looking for a lipo, however im not sure on some things!

I've seen the cheaper rhino ones, are these any good? and are they legal? May be wanting to do a round or so of the micros, or if not just club meets.. but i'd still prefer them to be legal!

Are these, or any other smaller lipos able to be charged on the trakpower charger, do they need any extra leads, what should they be charged at?

Sorry for all the questions, just really new to lipos in general!

The Rhino's are great quality packs with lot's of punch. Try the 1700mah 20c ones. You will need a conversion lead to charge them on a Trakpower charger for JST-XH leads. Yes they are legal to be used as long as they are 2 cell. Micro's do not have an approved list other than they must be 2 cell. Always charge any lipo at 1C (so if they are 1700mah then 1.7amps) but if you are using a Trackpower charger that should be selected for you as long as it's set to 1C. The only benefit you get from charging at higher amps is a faster charge but it reduces pack life.

Sorry, I should say, the Rhino 1700mah 2sell fits the LRP Shark. If you are using any other car then check the dimensions.

Any shop that sells Trackpower should be able to get you the lead for about £3. Failing that give BRC Hobbies a call and ask for a TP to JST-XH conversion lead.

Micro's are awesome, you will love it!

Thanks very much!

final question I hope, after looking around for packs, they seem to have these strange connectors on them, are these the JST-XH connections you mean? E.g -

Im sorry for all the questions but I want to get it right first time round rarther than get it wrong with out asking the relevant questions first.

Hey no worries mate. Yes that little balance connector looks like a JST-XH connector. Many guys at our club run the Rhino's and the all came with that connector.

Thanks for clearing that up! so am I right to assume I connect it all up like this:

Trakpower charger - trakpower equaliser + JST-xh lead - lipo battery?

as said before, lipo is very new to me so sorry for the silly questions!

Thank you very much though for all the help

You can pretty much use any of these lipo's that fit your car mate as long as they are 7.4v (2 cell).

They are dirt cheap and great quality, very punchy. Anything from 800mah and up will last more than a 5minute race so depending on your motor/gearing/driving you should get 2 races out of a 1750mah. Also, the more mah you buy the quicker you can charge it and the less topping up you are doing which means it increases pack life.

I've just seen your other thread. You can't go far wrong with those Overlander 800mah packs from EMS Racing either if you need them quick. They are some of the best packs available. I now use those to race with but the 1700mah 35c versions cost £25 each!
