Even though i didn't do to well, I had a really great day today.

A big thanks to the South Lakes guys! I think the school bumping you off your normal plot worked in your favour as that hillside had great natural features.... and gave marshals a work out to!

With regards tyres.... bot dots are the future; something that will deter and impede corner cutting but not get cars stuck.

As Stu says you can cut down and cap the tyres, or use something like heavy bin lids pegged down. Maybe even sandfill some of the firehose and peg it down in a curved profile.

With regards turnout I think there might of been a few that shyed off because of the forecast and gloomy skies this morning..... if so they made the wrong choice, the weather was absolutely glorious

sand filled hose should be easy to do, though i'll have a look into some bot dot type markings too. i think we should also have got some of the gutter up from the indoor track to use in place of some of the hose, i'm sure we'll manage to do even better next time, and i'll do my best to organise using the council land we were on today again next time, although having to sort out somwere else to race with about 4 weeks to go was a bit of a nightmare!!

It's great to hear people enjoyed the day i know i had a really good days racing, and it's also nice (kind of) to hear peoples critiscims, so we can improve the next meeting

I really enjoyed today, pity Colin is so fast -

Looking forward to the next meeting up there - August 23rd.
Great day really enjoyed it !

Hi

We had the same thing about tyres on our track for a regional, and I think the way we read the BRCA rule was you cannot use tyres to mark the track BUT you can use them within the track, so for e.g we had some small 1" pipe marking a longish bend at the end of the straight, so to stop corner cutting we put some tyres on the inside, thus they were not marking the track as the brca states as they were inside the pipe that was marking the track.
I know we should have had better pipe, but most clubs don't have big pots of money and we have to make do with what we have.

Of course all of the above could be total wrong

You may as well take the batteries out of your tranny now then, and chew off your thumbs whilst your at it coz it's only gonna happen next time.... You'll need to find a lap from somewhere too

The rule is "tyres are not to be used to define the track". It doesn't state tyres can't be used. So it all comes down to whether or not the tyre is the defining feature. If you wrap the tyre in 1" pipe, then you can justify the pipe as defining the track outline and the tyre is just their for weight.

But enough of tyre talk....

South Lakes Club laid on a great day for us. The land they aquired for the track turned out to great.

Great venue It was really good just to have some variety in where we race. The hillside provided a good layout with all the elevation and camber changes

As for the track markings, I thought they were fine, they were well marked with hi-vis paint which was also very helpful.

Could you order the same weather next time please
