Tracks ine UK and Astro turf
im wondering......
Here in Norway we have built our Astro Turf track, we have the ends of the turf into each other, meaning there are no split int he astro turf that lays upon each other. i see that in UK that they are trying to vaccum the "sand" out from the turf, if we do that the turf become very light. what im wondering is how do u splice the astro to each other at the ends? do u use glue? plz see our Youtube videos of the track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SRWK...yer_detailpage

I think at the Kidderminster track they have dug a trench where they meet so you can tuck the 2 ends into the ground so there isn't a hump where they join. All the astro turf is solid with no movement there.

6" tent pegs work.

The talk of vacuuming up sand was to do with the new track at Bury Metro, where the track was laid with the wrong sort of sand being used. They used a very course grain that doesn't sink well into the very tight weave on this type of astro.
If we removed that sand, we would have replaced it with finer grain sand. The idea was never to use it without sand, just to remove the wrong stuff.....
