Like you X-5 Carl? That you can change the belts/pullies on?

The Spur rotates the same direction as the tyres on my ProCat, so do the wheels!

I wouldn't have thought so, I'd guess it would have an undertray etc - but not a fully enclosed drivetrain.

if they had the motor turning in the same direction of the wheels, that might do something funky to the handling, as the rotation would oppose the squatting motion but that would need a layshaft driving a pair of idler gears (wtf....) or is this schumacher trying to re-invent the wheel?

Oy! No making fun of the Trabi please. It's the only car that's as fast in reverse as it is in forward gear. They used to race these on an oval ... .. .backwards!

Besides, I believe Audi revived the vari-push-belt technology and use it on their excellent line of automatic gearboxes....

The Fireblade was known as the "Allegro" (crap English car)... surely the Cat SX wont end up being called the "Trabant" I just refuse to beleive it

That was the DAF with the belt gearbox. You just changed the size of the pulleys to change gear with a sliding lever. Intensely cool to be able to do 100kmh in reverse (theoretically )
Trabbis were just nasty two-strokes without a fuel gauge. You have to measure how much petrol you still have with a stick...

Here's how the DAF box worked

What a suave car for the discerning gentleman

Sorry, just noticed this was violently off-topic but I was half-asleep when I read DAF somewhere
