and also
HPI PLAZMAPRO 7.4V 5600mAh 95C LiPo Battery Saddle Pack, is the 95c constant or burst ?

anyone know, some of the others say for example 65/130c which is obvious,

they are all burst. Think about it... 60C for a 5Ah battery is 300A. No battery of this type can provide 300A continuous.

RC car battery ratings make my blood boil

I think a lot of the C ratings are fiddled anyway, there is no standardised test that suppliers/manufacturers use to determine the C rating and I doubt that each lipo is tested before dispatch from the factory.

Big Squid RC and Ultimate RC (both in the US) have done some tests between different Lipos which have consistently shown the advertised C ratings are wide of the mark for most except Gens Ace. You can find one test here:

Orion cells are good but when they can be compared to a budget cet from Gens Ace for voltage under load you have to question the advertised C rating.

As above. Those numbers are neither constant nor burst, they are just totally made up.

Orion did it with the old V-Max nicads and got their wrist slapped if I remember correctly.

Not only are they made up and worthless, they are meaningless too!

In theory at the instant of start-up you draw infinite current. However, that is limited by your speedo, which mostly cannot deliver above 500A instantaneous for a good race speedo. So if I had a 6000mAh cell rated at 90C it could apparently deliver 540A, only 500 of which I could use!

The reality is that a good race speedo can only deliver 120A-150A continuous current (and lets not get started on the speedo ratings - some about as useful as the cell ratings. Bear with me!) so a 90C is pretty much useless as the speedo can't deliver the potential of the cell.

As well as ignoring the cell ratings, take the speedo ratings with a pinch of salt too. The cell requirements are that you have enough capacity to use about half of it in a modified race, and about 1/3 of it in stock. That way you will have the ingredient that really does make a difference to your lap times - voltage. Buy a cell with insufficient capacity so the voltage drops a lot and you will always be slower than someone with a larger capacity cell. HTH
