Default diff side play? replies needed quick!

hi there,

i was fitting my steel idler gear kit when i noticed my rear diff has a huge amount of play from side to side?

it was not like this when i got the car but i gave the diffs a rebuild the day after my first meeting with the car and it has no play on the diffs at the race meeting. what could be causing this problem?

i need some help quick because i should be racing it tomorrow.

many thanks

lewis

I'd make sure your gearbox housing are screwed down square and that nothing is bent, also make sure your diff eccentric rings are set the same both sides as it's reasonably easy to get them out by one notch.

On a side note where are your racing tomorrow? as I notice your in Suffolk which isn't that far from me.

hi mate,

i will have a look and see if the housing is bent. i took the shims of my front diff and fitted them to the rear which has reduced the play alot.

yes i live in suffolk and i sould be racing at coastal model car club in ipswich, linky:
