Default Replying to PMs offering to buy items

Is it really too much to expect that sellers reply to your PMs letting you know when they have sold something or am I expecting too much and need to check the advert for the next few days until it gets changed to SOLD if it ever does?

I appreciate people are busy with more important things like work and family but seems poor to me that they have the time to advertise the item and presumably deal with the successful buyer but can’t be bothered to send a quick “Sold” message to those who send a PM offering to buy the item. How long does it take – 30 seconds?? Yes, I am getting older and even more grumpy.

I have to say 95% of people on here I have traded with are a joy to deal with – polite, quick to response and pay for items or post them immediately. Maybe it just makes the other 5% stand out. Perhaps I should be pleased that they sold the item to someone else as I wonder if this “can’t be bothered” attitude would continue throughout the whole transaction.

Rant over. Have a nice weekend all.

Rob

guess we're both getting old.

I also find it annoying when I get no comms about an item I have asked enquired about.
its a common courtesy really

Agree with all the above.

It does beg the question - when do you change an item to SOLD? When someone has said they'll have it, or when you've received the payment...

Personally, I do the latter.

Either can be a pain though - mark as SOLD & then lose potential buyers if the original 'buyer' doesn't pay, or receive a load more PMs wanting the item in the period before payment is received. Then have to send loads of replies saying "it's awaiting payment - will get back to you tomorrow if 'buyer' doesn't pay" (as I do) or ignore them & upset RobW, etc
