Default New 4wd for WORLDS ;-)

There will be a NEW 4wd coming for the Worlds this year ;-) According to Miguel MATIAS while being interviewed after his C final run at the Euro's.

The funniest part was the reason for him slowing down on the last lap to give away the win in the C final, he was miles ahead then drove like he was dumping on the last two corners and finally shot across the line after letting second place through.

He wanted to go home and didn't want to wait for a trophy at the presentation!

Miguel stated on rostrum he would attend Worlds IF he gets the new car...

is still rumour really as anything in pipeline may get delayed but it's sounds promising and well overdue.

He was running a XXX4 on what looked like a very bumpy track so maybe XX4 would have been more suited and Bloomers still performed well with his XX4 despite some bad luck in qualifying.

Fingers crossed for a new car soon

So IF there is a new car for the worlds, when do ppl think it will be available for the rest of us, I used to drive a xx4 many moons ago, then packed it in. And came back to racing a few months ago with a 22.

Will it be released after the worlds in time for xmas, or does the rules say it has to be for same to be eligible to run, like tyres?

It doesnt have to come out before/during the Worlds for them to run it in the modified class, you can run whatever prototype you like.

To be honest Miguel didnt say a new car is coming out, only that he only wants to race in the Worlds if there is one and he gets it in time.

Sold my 2WD cars, looks like I'll be selling my 4WD too.

Was winding down racing, but this... Might keep me racing over winter if it landed after worlds.

So far it's looking like a new:
HB
Kyosho
TLR

Plenty of choice

Seems clear from those pics that theyve tried to keep as much of the old XX-4 in the design as they could.

Quick glance reveals it to be 3 belt system with the motor pretty much in the same spot as the XX-4, saddle packs in the back, esc in the same spot, essentially XX-4 front geometry.

Nice to see how theyve resolved the XX-4 front bulkhead issues, having the arm mounting block mounted under the alloy chassis (like the 22). Judging from the angle of the chassis in relation to the outdrives i'd say theres a cut-out or hole in the front of the chassis that the front pulley sits into.

Well, what is clear is that it's a prototype - how much is retained from the prototype that ran that Nats track the day after, and what's actually used at next month's worlds, and how much is changed prior to release (maybe) by the end of the year, is hard to say.

We'll see!

Going to throw my neck out but......on the underside shot there is what looks to be a hole where motor sits ie to get motor lower. This is running length ways front to back, which would suggest motor is too so pinion at back end bell at front which would indicate shaft drive?

Hope its some trickery from tlr and it is actually belt drive

If that hole is under the motor then they are using the motor from the Micro-T. Look at the first picture, you can see the layshaft sticking out of the body and the body shaped over the spur gear, just like the XX4.

As the XX4 still works so well there's not much point starting all over again with the chassis layout.
