I'm planning to convert a B44 into a B44-2 2wd and I'm looking for the thinnest 12mm asso-fitting hexes.

I would of thought AS9891 the B4.2 front hexes would be ideal matched up with the AS9690 AE wheels.

As I fit them on the b44, they are all too wide. With is about 259mm, so i cut down a set to 3mm now and cut twe wheel about 2mm aswell.
Depending on camber settings it's within the 250mm allowed now.

yeah the 2wd front wheels are different offset to the 4wd fronts.

Maybe yokomo 4wd fronts would be closer as the offset might not be so much of an issue.

if you're using a B44 front end on a 2wd B44 then surely you'd just remove the bone part of the CVA leaving just the stub axle in there and using the original 10mm hex wheels? The width wouldn't change then.
