Default Lipos Next Year For Regionals ?

Firstly, apologies if this has been discussed at length on here before, im a newish member

Do you guys think its likely that Lipos will be allowed next year ?

Im only going to be able to do 2 regionals later on this year. Having just found out that my batteries are not BRCA legal, this means buying new cells just for two meetings !

According to this post, Lipos are/were allowed at the Worksop indoor series ?

http://www.rcracechat.com/vb/showthread.php?t=32386

If this is the case then it makes sense to miss this years two regionals and start with Lipo this winter at Worksop. Hopefully next year they will become legal for 1/10th off road regionals too

Your thoughts ?

Regionals decide what they want to allow themselves and some regionals have allowed lipo's for a long time now.

Hey Rich,
For them to be allowed, they must be proposed before the BRCA AGM deadline and then accepted at the AGM, the 'wheels are in motion' so to speak, and that discussion has been exhausted already.

You are doing the wise thing, as you won't count for any final position after 2 events, you may aswell hang on and use them at Worksop.... I will be Lipo at Worksop too.

But here's an idea, check with the regional venue and ask if they have any issue with you running Lipo and running in a non-regional heat not counting for points. This was done recently at the NW Southport regional and was a good idea.

Before running Lipo at any club events, do check that the club allows them. I know club meetings in theory are open for things like this, but if the committee/venue choose's not to allow then they are within their rights.

Chris

No offence, but I wouldn't trust that statement without hearing it from a BRCA Regional Rep'.

Some rules are relaxed/tweeked for regionals, granted, but Lipo is beyond that by my understanding.

The South East Regionals are allowing Lipo as far as I know... at least we were allowed to run Lipo at the 2wd round at WKRCC

the official answer i got was

Lipo is allowed at regionals, BUT you will not gain points, and you will have to run in a lipo only final.

but as chris says check with the region, there not going to put a final on if there is just one lipo car.

roll on 2009!!

LOL

Life was so much less complicated when all we had were 2000mah cells. Last time i raced regionals it was a constant battle not to dump.

I wondered how it worked as anyone running Lipo is surely at a power advantage nowadays ?

Id still be near the back even if i had a rocket. Easy when you are a big fish in a small pond, but getting to these regionals/nationals soon sorts the men from the boys doesnt it

Thanks for the replies so far guys, im sort of wiser....... i think

See you at Worksop then Chris and thanks for the detailed reply mate

South East. I used mine a couple of times last year and plan to do so again this year. Can't remember if I got any points, to be honest, didn't really care last year as I started late in the season and only did 2 regional meetings. Also used lipo at Newbury and a few other short series races.

Well Mark has had an official answer that can be used - but no points given, as stated.

Still, check with venue though

Fingers crossed, 2009 will be different for Lipo use.

Any Lipo questions feel free to ask away. Lets get these things mainstream, Ive had the chance to use them plenty, and have found that they are reliable, powerful, consistent and robust. They are the future!

Certainly will see me at Worksop, and im already looking forward to going back there!!!
