Cat SX2 front shocks fouling on tower
Hi all,
Sorry if this repeating an old question, as Im sure it cant just be me experiencing this problem, but I tried searching and couldnt find any answer. At last race, I wanted to drop the suspension flatter, but when trying to move the shock to the INNER hole on the shock tower, the top of the shock cap fouled on the tower itself. With the shock cap now up tight against the tower, this meant the shocks couldnt rotate around when the wheel & wishbone moved up and down. i.e. the suspension was useless. It was a brand new tower, and when looking at the old one that I removed, I could see where the carbon had been "flattened" obviously by the same thing happening under heavy impacts. What am I doing wrong, as at the moment, if I run the shocks anything less than middle holes, I get this fouling problem. Thanks again guys. Cardnim <--- yes, Im a noob |

I haven't had my sx2 very long so can't say I've had that problem, but could you try spacing the shock forwards (ie longer mounting bolt and washer)?

Cheers jelly, but dont think that would help - it would need to be a HUGE spacer in order for the top of the shock to miss the tower!
Anyways, it must be do-able with the kit parts without needing any additional bits. My guess is Im doing something very wrong.... wouldnt be like me! |

I have the same issue on my SX2, I filed the lower edges on shocktower (on shock side)to get more room for the shocks.
I will not mean the tower will get weak of this modification

Anyone know the solution to this?
Surely the fantastic engineering at Schumacher cant have stopped short of the shocks not actually being adjustable?! @Ulrich - sorry to hear its happening you too. I dont want to file down the shock towers unless I absolutely have to. There must be another solution. Anyone? |

must admit i had never noticed it doing that, but it does touch on ours but only just at full travel and doesnt stop movement, have you unscrewed the shock ballcups possibly,??

Ha ha! Good man Lion-o (snarf snarf)
I think youve solved it. (at least part of the way!) At a race a while back, I needed just a bit more shock travel so unscrewed the ballcups slightly to give me a couple mm. Totally forgot I had done it, and with the ballcups Im using (not kit) its hard to even tell visually. This is probably exactly what is causing the fouling. Thanks again BigRed. Much appreciated m8 |

no worries mate, hope that solves it on the big bores we dont undo the ball cups, especialy on the s3x
