Default Academy sv v2

I meant to say SB V2 lol.

Is anyone running this car? I was considering this car for the price, and to add to my fleet along with buying a b44. Does anyone have any build pics and more info on the academy, looks to be like a solid car.

I ran a similar car some seasons ago but had issues with its set up. However, my set up skills are not the best and the car may have been improved since then but I think you maybe better off with the B44.

I just recently put together a SBV2 PRO. Built went together nicely and I have not run it yet outdoor. Will post with some thoughts when I do. Kit looks good and parts look beefy!
One thing I did do is get rid of the bump steer by adding 1mm shim under the ballstuds on the steering knuckles.

Well I got 1st place in the B-main at the Roar #5 here in MI. Car was dialed. I ran a 10.5 and held off other buggies with hotter motors. Main took place after dark. Soft loamy dirt.

From what I've read, the biggest weakness is the plastic outdrives - Academy have released heavy duty steel upgrades, but those come at a cost, so count two sets of those into the price (I'm presuming it's DMS's £85 offer you're talking about).

I have heard that the chassis and top deck are quite soft on the V2 (not the carbon fibre Pro V2), and heard of one driver in my club snapping the top deck! I believe Fibrelyte do CF upgrades for it, but again at a cost. It might be an ideal donor kit for someone wanting to do their own chassis, maybe out of G10.

The SBV2Pro comes with the steel outdrives at no additional cost.

I'll begin racing my Academy TC soon seriously (yesterday was called off because of a break-in to the venue ), and the spares issue will be interesting.

Ages ago, I contacted Academy in Germany, and they said they could supply me directly, while the other option is ModelRec.com, the USA distributer - rovided their delivery isn't crazy, it's a good (albeit maybe slow) option as most spares cost less than the VAT threshoold of £18 (so they don't get stopped by customs).

I ran the Academy and ran into a few problems - I contacted Academy Germany for parts, and they told me delivery would be €18!

That leaves just Modelrec for spares. I'll see how that goes.

I'm looking for the bevel gear (98VP 005), a part common to both the SB V2 and STR-4 Pro II. I cobbled together an order for MRC, only to find they sell to North America only.

I've emailed Academy Germany again to see if they can do better than €18 for what added up to a $67.50 spares order.

Tell them to send it in a padded envelope if it fits (and it's all fairly flyt stuff) via airmail and they can do it uninsured for 3€

A Main Hobbies in the US sold me some parts earlier this year, not very expensive shipping. I got GV2 threaded shocks and the steel outdrives
