How To fit fat LIPO's?
Hi,
Trying to fit my 5200mAh LiPo's in the xx4 and not able to. The touch the rx plate so it must be cut to the minimum, but then I'll have no point to put the plate on top. ¿Anyone has it done? ¿images? |

I have 5000 40c intellect lipos in mine and they are as tight as I could really get away with. Do the lipos have lugs underneath? If so could you dremel down my a mm or two perhaps?

No, they haven't lugs.

They are Intellect 5000 40c, think they are 25 or 26mm. They are tight and I had to file the retaining plate a few mm so i could get the clip in but they fit snug now. Will yours fit under the receiver plate if the battery post is removed, ie is there physically enough room, or is it just because you are sliding them in at an angle, in which case you might be able to file a bit off the side of the battery/body post. Hope this helps.

Even with post removed they don't fit. I'll try two things before cutting receiver plate:
-Battery plates upside down (or removing lungs for NiMh) -dremell as much material from receiver plates downside (so now only small pressure and no engagement is needed). I won't cut posts anyway, so the lack of strength will make them far more breakable. Finally, possibly some carbon plate+thumbscrews would be used to achieve the goal in the most aesthetically optimized manner. Or with battery straps as TC if anything works |

I'm working in an idea but probably wouldn't work for stick packs...brass lipo tray as Rudebits one for Asso. Bigger to the front to move weight balance as near to the front end as possible, plus adding strength to this part. After that some alu post and thumbscrews for fast "rebattering".
Probably I'll tray Danny setup, with one pack almost against the motor and esc in the back. After that end balancing with the rest of weights. Easy, isn't it? If I use all this time to another issues, hunger in the world would have disappeared. |

What I did with mine was to cut away the receiver mounting platform so that it was flush with the belt tunnel and then I made up a cross brace strap from thick lexan (some old Parma stuff I had kicking about) to go across the whole width of the chassis and drilled it so that it fitted over the rear body mounts.
The body keeps the cells from moving around too much anyway but the extra bracing just prevents the inside edges from lifting upwards. Instead of lexan, you could use thin GRP or even carbon. Works fine for me. HTH |

Hi ya,
Pics will have to wait (sorry) but it's quite straight forward. I use the Spektrum SR3100 DSM2 receiver which I fit directly in front of the cells on the left hand side. The cells are pushed as far back as possible and I also use a foam block to space between the cells and the servo on the right hand side to push them back also. ESC stays in the normal place - everything does fit (just!) If I get the chance, I will post a pic but it's not possible at the moment - but I hope this helps. It is a simple fix so long as you have enough room for your receiver. HTH |

a friend of mine uses industrial strength velcro and nothing else!! works perfest and is super simple!

This is exactly the idea I have in mind. The only difference is to suit B44 rudebits brass Lipo fitting underneath instead of the carbon fiber in the photos.
