J12 National Questions
Hi guys,
sending off my form in the morning (there's still some spaces apparently), and got a few questions: on the reg form it says put down 5 frequencies, can you just put down 2.4ghz instead? What are the tyres to use at J12? What's the deal with one day nationals, how many rounds do you have and how many people get finals? Dave

Grip last year was poor at best, surface is earthy and if dry, loose. Lee will probably be on JC subcultures Blue. PL caliber M3/M4 would be a good alternative as a starting point. For the format.... read the bloody handbook so you know the rules.... 1 prac, 3 rounds, 2 to count, 10 straight in, 4 bump up.

i didnt think the grip was that bad last year jon, used 1 set of m3 crimes all day and had 2 29th's in rounds which is good for me lol
the grip certainly came up at the end tho. |

theres your answer... mid summer, quite warm, dirt track and you used M3's and they didnt wear = soft tyres to get grip, no wear cos they didnt grip.

i dont recal saying they didnt wear...i said i used 1 set all day
the tyres wore but the grip came up and the soft m3 meant i didnt lose any traction so felt no need to change tyres, certainly not for my skill level anyways. i didnt think it was that dusty, maybe our cars were finding traction where others struggled, all i know is that i will be sticking m3 crimes on again then maybe switch to HB megabits in pink if the track cleans up. |

I was on Yellow JConcepts from round2 onwards and they were much better than the softer Blues.
I thought the racing line cleaned up pretty well. |

Pretty much everyone gets a final if I remember right, I did a season of nationals in my first year at rallycross and always made a final.
You get smashed to bits in those lower 'pull start' finals though so get your elbows ready If your that jesus look alike I've seen you drive at NNRC with an electric buggy and you looked a decent standard something like H or G final possibly better...

If I go for Calibers will standard inserts do or do I need another type?
Also, would Kamikaze's be any good as backup?

AKA Cityblocks was the best tyres at last years meeting, we started off with soft and then on to medium compound for finals, they was awesome

Well, I've dug through my neo tyre bag and going for M3 Bowties and M2 Crimefighters, with an old set of Kamikaze's for backup!
This whole tyre thing is so confusing for me, used to just schu minispikes everywhere!!

being completely honest, unless you are running full quallys without any driving errors, most of the tires from the big names name will be pretty reasonable,
something like a crimefighter M3 or M2 will be more than good enough to get round OK. its not like 10th scale where if you don't have schumacher yellow mini-spikes its not worth turning up, on dirt, with 8th scale, such a wide variety of tires 'work' you can tell this by seeing the how many tires the people shooting for A-finals bring with them. they will probably run a different type of tire tread or compound each run and gain or loose no more than a couple of 10ths of a second a lap. this obviously matters for someone looking to win the meeting, but not for people from the B-main downwards. |
