You can get these from any good electrical store, like mapins. Last time I bought a couple for around £3 as I recall. Take the old one in with you as its marked with the uhf number/ size.

Demon power products and also get some bit longer wire as the standard is a bit short which causes the capcitor legs to eventually snap off
Its a gold one on demon about £4 if i remember |

Does anybody know what the uhf number is?

For speedo's I've used 2200uF caps and 6800uF caps and also 10000uF caps make sure they are at least 10V rated. 16V is also good. No need to go higher becuase a higher rated voltage ususlly means larger physical size.
So basically look for caps between 2200uF and 10000uF and 10 - 16V rating. Do not go lower than this, but higher is OK just might be too big physicaly

I am using a 16v 4700uf capacitor, running on both my SXX. Works fine. Maplin part no VH57M

Is it better to have one big capacitor or several small ones to the same rating?

In theory several smaller caps would be better.
Example: 3 * 3300uF 16V caps (9900uF in total) would be better than 1 * 10000uF 16V cap This is because using caps in parallel lowers the Equivalant Series Resistance (ESR) and means the cap bank can charge and disharge faster, improving the system frequency response. In practice, It doesn't really make a much of difference. Its really all down to size and placement. I noramlly go with whatever I have to hand.
