Default Motor and speedo too hot... Help!!!!

I've just installed a brand new 6.5 turn pure 2 evolution motor in my axial exo just for a few runs with no bodypanels on it just to check it all works and the motor came back stinking hot,the car is running the stock gearing which is middle of the gearing 12.67-1 which ain't that fast, the chassis can run either 540 or 550 size motors so it cannot be that so I tried the motor in my Durango dex410 and that was the same...don't know what I'm doing wrong?..duff motor maybe?... Any help on making motors run cooler would be great.

you probably already know this but try changing the pinion to a smaller one, or get yourself a motor fan and esc fan
