Default LCG Lipos in 4wd

Hi All,

Ok, I have had several different opinions on this….

I’m looking at running LCG lipos in my 4wd, 5.5 to 6.5 motor.

Is it viable?
Do you get decent run times, at least enough for a 5 minute heat?

I have to use lcg’s in my Vintage so makes sense to carry them over if I can.

Opinions please?!

Thanks all.

Hello,

My LCGs are 3800mAh, my shorties 4500mAh. I've not run the LCG in my 4WD but can't see why they wouldn't last a full heat and more, from memory when running a 5.5 I generally put back between 1900 and 2400mAh when charging so that's all it's used in a 5 minute race. Track dependant obviously, places like RHR with the long straight will use more than say a shorter layout like Mendip.

One thing to bear in mind though is will it affect the left/right balance of your car if it's mounted North/South on one side like most are? The other thing I'd have to fanny about with on mine is finding some shorter lipo posts, or use a strip of foam to keep a LCG in place.

For that reason that's why I leave the LCGs for the 2WD and the youngest's play car.

I run an LCG Intellect 4000ma in my TLR 22x4 with a trinity revtec 6.5t and it last 5 mins easily. Usually uses just over 2000ma and the balance of the car feels better than a full size shorty.

As long as the batteries are in decent condition and of sensible capacity LCG is perfectly fine in 4wd. I've been running lcg for about 4 years in mine and with my 4400mah ones and a 5.5t in it I comfortably do even the 7 min finals of the local club plus a couple of sighting laps. And the balance of the car does indeed feel better.
