Default DEX210V2: When? What Spec/Changes?

Hi everyone,

With the Worlds coming up and the first release DEX210 getting near the age of 2 years, I'm wondering: When will we see a new version of the DEX210? What specs/changes will they implement in that car? And lastly, would a current DEX210 be affordable to upgrade into one?

The reason I'm asking is partly just curiosity, and partly because I need/want to know if I'm retiring my TRF201 asap or better off waiting just a few more months.

Whatever thoughts you have on this or actual confirmed information you have, please share it

I suspect it will be a dex210 with rear mounted shocks, new tranny case (2 ballstud locations) new ball cup plastic so they don't cause issues for some, +8mm pec B chassis (alloy is unlikely IMO) possibly raised wing mounts, possibly a LRC option, probably stronger rear tower, possibly more

Interesting stuff you mention on the higher wing mount and rear mounted shocks - what advantages does this give?

I think the spec will be:
- DIMEC Spec B +8mm chassis with new spec hangers.
- Cab Forward DIMEC Bodyshell (though I'm hoping for something more true to Durango's usual styling).
- Gear casing with two roll center options and the shock tower mount 1mm offset from the old position to prevent the 'usual' shock tower breakage.
- Beefed up plastic steering plate (with aluminium remaining optional).
- Long ball diff outdrives (currently optional, they make the diff as wide as the gear diff from end to end of the outdrives).
- Piston options in the kit range between amount of holes, not hole sizes.
- Insert for 25 degree caster option included.
- New version HD Ball cups.

In honesty I dont see a V2 as yet for some time. Yep the car has had some optional upgrades released but it is still a major player in it's current state.

I can see more option parts on the horizon, but as for a full V2 kit, perhaps we might not see anything for another year yet (but given what we have now, that isnt an issue)

With MB selling the 210 kits at £124.95, I'd be very surprised if a V2 isn't imminent.

I think Adam Skelding had a +8mm aluminium chassis at the nationals, it was very early on the morning when I saw it. :-)

Do I buy another 210 now or buy a V2 when released???

It indeed wouldn't be too convincing if they'd claim they found a way to make it over 30GBP cheaper just like that

Anyway, it's exactly the kind of offer I needed to justify buying a kit! Thanks for sharing I'm now even more curious though what a V2 might be like, but I'm sure a new version would cost 180-200GBP again.

Well if this gets released then there is an unofficial V2 already. Durango will need to respond, as this copy has a higher spec than the current kit 210.

I reckon i might just convert my "spare" 210 to take a horizontal shorty anyway. It'll only be 20 mins with a dremel and a tape measure.

@Lee: I don't see any holes in the Spec B DIMEC chassis that suggests future compatability with horizontal shorties - without mods that is of course So that means either it's not on the horizon, the V2 would have an alu chassis, or the V2 is not to be released for a while (the last of which going by the recent price drop sounds unlikely to me).

I'm curious whether we'll see anything of the driveshaft and hub mod Jörn was running on his DEX at the Reedy race earlier this year (Click).

And just as a small bit of thought/speculation... I think Durango might be offering their own optional (carbon) towers in the future, but keep the plastic ones on/in as standard - that, or another scenario where together with the V2 they also release a V2R? It's the way to make sure Durango can deliver both bang for the buck and high end bling stuff out of the box to try and keep customers away from the InTech ER-12 and the Proken S1.

If they do then they need to redesign that awful layshaft design. Made a solid unit would help.
