Default my new project

Hey guys
I just got this in the post today :

my thoughts are to rebuild it as a vintage runner. (as I already have a couple of 2wd retro racers)
it looks like the front end has been damaged, although I do have a new in pack front gearbox casing, but I'm loathed to crack it open for anything other than a shelf queen....
I am missing 1 front drive shaft / UJ, so looking for options there.
Should be a fun project I think. !

thanks
Stu

Nice. Ive posted the uj info on here somewhere, the ones i use are listed and much better than the zxr ujs. I think ive got LA245 on the rear so do a search on this thread and see what appears. I just bought two more axles and two longer shafts for the front.

Default law-2

i have been searching for part law-2 anti roll bar set for my zxr and had no joy.
i can get an ot-54 roll bar set for a turbo optima, but what i would like to know , has anybody tried to make this fit and if so how far off is it from fitting? my next step would be to make my own roll bars.....if anybody has the front and rear zxr roll bars they could measure and tell me the lengths and angles that would be great

this is really cheap, but will only work if you have LA-59 C hubs , and you use the inner position on the hub to push it out wide. If not you must use 62.5mm. Unfortunately no one else makes a cheaper alternative to LA-245.

Welshy40 got a question for you. When the ZX came out, it came with a 100tooth spur. If I am not mistaken, it is a 48dp spur just like the Mid before it.
So whats my point ? Well I noticed when I bought my 81T B4 spur gear and compared it to my 87T Optima Mid spur, they were almost the same diameter. That means the pitch on the dp is smaller. So My theory is, since the ZX has a 100tooth dp..could a say 93T B4 spur be almost the same size? If that is the case then there is no need to make spurs with RW. by the way Neil of RW isn't answering my mails. Besides..buying from the UK is killing my pocket in the form of exchange rate.

I wouldnt contimplate using these as i doubt they last long plus cant guarantee it will fit in the out drive or the hubs. Yes LA245 in the rear, plus another pair of axles and longer bones to widen the front will be expensive but they can be rebuilt when slop happens and so far several years in and ive still got zero play.

LA232 is 65mm long - I bought the bones for the front of the zxr but also bought the LA-231.02 axles for the LA245 & a rebuild kit to make the front ujs for my zxr

I also bought LA245 which is 62.5mm long and use on the rear of my zxr

Also youll need hexes VZW-10 and also some axle wafer thin spacer washers.

The ZX has an 88T 0.6 module spur, the ZX-R has the 100T 48dp spur. The Optima Mid has a 74T 0.6 module spur, not 87T.

As Terry said, zx has .6 and zr was 48dp 100t. Ive tried various sized spurs and 100t works best. Alcyon i will send you a couple though next month when i buy a few for myself. Do you want the b4 design spur im using with your layshaft?

zx came with la-2 88 tooth modul 0.6 spur not 100% accurate on the module but i think it was 0.6 anyway same module as the optima mid

later zxr and on used the tm-7 100 tooth 48pitch spur

Stripped the car right down to all the pieces, and starting cleaning :

Also ordered some of the parts I need to finish the build.
Missing some hardware still I think, but might have those in a box somewhere....

Wow Oli that looks amazing, the ZX body looks good when done right and the buggy has a low ride height
I love how you used a MKII chassis and hyperclutch along with the rare sway bars

Though I am a little confused, you said you are selling all your buggies and then you go and build another one lol
