Ah, first thread . Was waiting for this.
I had the same dilemma. Always was a Xray fan but when it came down to these two cars I had to go with K1.
Mostly because the belt drive and schumachers experience in making good buggys. First car I have ever owned that I don't feel the need to modify anything on it.
Both cars are exilent. Seen xb4 also and it is a nice piece.

I also got Xray so the quality is familiar to me. The same goes for xb4. Then Schumacher also have great quality.
The thing is I even got my K1 with me when watching television cuz I am so impressed with it even thou not one meter have been run yet.
It look super fast standing still. Love it already.

Time will tell on this. Stu Wood ran his K1 at Bury on Sunday and kicked my lilly white rear quarters... but he could do that with a Tamiya, so hard to say how that translates to less skilled drivers. Still feeling quite happy with my 44.2 for now. I think the XB4 has more "game-changer" potential, but it's not really proven yet. I know a lot of people will worry about the plastic diff gears too.

Interesting times for 4wd anyway, we had 12 4wd drivers on Sunday, the most we've had for a long time.

K1s have belts they are always going to become unreliable
xb4 not sure on that one nothing looks game changing to me ..
Looks more like a old fs kyosho I would not buy either of them

I've seen Stu running a few different cars over time - hell my old BMax was his before I got it, but nothing just looked as 'right' as that K1. Considering Stu hadn't even run it prior to that meeting it was amazing.
The JE boys have built up an XB4 on their facebook page so I'm sure Stu's handled one but he seemed more than happy with the K1.

So far i've heard of the K1 breaking bulkheads at the shock tower and the XB4 stripping diff gears. Choose your poison...

I've been looking at these 2 as well and am also torn, something that I've been paying more attention to though is the price of spares between the manufacturers.

It will be xb4 for me
I love he design of the k1 but its to finely built for me and belt drive may be smooth but it drags crap all round ya drivetrain and in the diffs and needs more cleaning and maintenance
I reckon if your fast and smooth the k1 is for you
But if you like ya car and driving a bit more rugged is be on the xb4
It's going down the prefered buggy route for me
Full big bores not half breeds
Good motor mount system
Shaft drive
Geared diffs with ball option so best of both and more tuning options
Xray quality
Can't wait till I can afford one

I like the look of the K1 and i would think with 80% of people getting one, they will be on the pace quickly, with lots of setups,

Iv gone for the XB4 though as i like to be different

The rumor is that there will be an opportunity to put gear diff in the K1 around January 2013, so you will have the same drivetrain as XB4.

when that is all said and done, i htake the K1 because i can get the spares were i live and last i dont like all the plastick parts on the XB4.

Best Regards.

I've seen both on the track and the K1 takes the honours so far, but then in the defence of the xb4 it was hastily set up trackside with an esc dropped straight in from a TC with all the boost and turbo maxed out. It travelled at the speed of light in a straight line but was inconvenienced by some silly corners that got in the way. The plus side to this though was that it was able to keep going with no breakages so its obviously pretty durable!
