Default 2013 Junior/Veteran/F2 Championships - SE Summary

Thought it might be good to summarise the South East Regions efforts at last weekends Championships hosted at the TORCH facilities in deepest Hampshire!

First off, have to say was an impressive turnout by the South East, not surprisingly we were the second largest Region there, behind the host Region, Mid South, so looks like all that persuasion really worked!

Under 13's
We only had one representative in this age group, young Matthew Peters competing at his first major event, had a good weekend and made the A Final in both classes picking up some good points for the Region.

Under 16's
We had four drivers in this age group: Jodie Moon; Kyle Moon, Jon Barnes and Ollie Crew. Kyle had another excellent weekend at a National event WINNING the 2WD class and finishing a good second in the 4WD event, well done Kyle! Jodie , Jon and Ollie all had drives in A Finals and again contributed to the Regions efforts to get that plaque back!

Veterans
It was never going to be easy but we had a massive turnout, 10 drivers entered for the event but it was always going to be difficult as many of the countries drivers now qualify for this event so more and more quality drivers are turning up for this event. That being said our very own DC, Dave Church, made the A Final both days, finishing 6th both days, our other points scorer was 'young' Stuart Band who won the B Final both days and even I managed to squeeze into third place in the 2WD Over 50 category and yes I know, it's hard to believe isn't it!

F2
Again another great entry into this category, 11 drivers over both days of the weekend. Having got his F1 licence at this years Nationals, Ed Kerry was thought to be one of the favourites for the event alongside some notable locals, Ed didn't disappoint, finishing a creditable 3rd in the 2WD class and taking the 2013 4WD F2 Championship the following day, nice one Ed! Chris Delves also made the 2WD A Final and on both days our five points scoring drivers were all in the top three finals! Well done chaps!

Team Championships
Over the course of the weekend there are two team championships being raced for, one for the combined U13, U16 and Veterans and the other for the F2's and supporting formula's. I'm very pleased to say that the South East made the podium in BOTH Championships, finishing a creditable third in both. Again not surprisingly the dominant Mid South won both Championships.

So thanks to all those that entered, thanks to the support that we received at the event, congratulations to those that either won or had good results and heres hoping that like most of those I spoke to over the weekend you all had a good experience at the event!

Good luck to those drivers that are attending the F345 Championships at RHR in a couple of weekends time, unfortunately I can't make that one but I'm sure it will be an experience for you all!
