I donīt really understand why they didīnt make the outer pieces u-shaped? Then they could have used the battery post holes in the chassi instead. Would have saved 2 spacers.
It would also have fitted the 501X as well. (Not so important for Tamiya maybe, the 501X is discontinued)

You would also be able to remove the undercowl without touching the tray.
No, thatīs not a big problem. But one more thing that you have to remember each time you have removed the undercowl. Two more things on the pit table each time you remove the undercowl.

My 501X tray fits the 511. BUT you have remove some material from the center bulkhead. The battery will be in "standard" position.
On the 501X you donīt have this problem. The LiPos fit without any modification of the bulkhead.

My 511 tray do not fit the 501X. The rear mounting hole (where you attach the 511 undercowl) does not exist on the 501X. The rear (front) suspension mount is also different between 501X and 511.
This is why I donīt think the Tamiya tray fits the 501X. Maybe you can modify it to fit.
The 511 LiPo tray moves the LiPos back to clear the bulkhead.

Here are pics of the 511 alongside the 501X:

HB-61582 and HB-61581 (Hot Bodies ball studs)

They are perfect.

Schumacher ball studs are a good fit also U3496 (short)

I use these with the losi cups above

Guys just to let you know, the lrp lipos have tabs already fitted as part of the casing, you can also turn them upside down and use them in other cars so the tabs are on the top.
They fit perfectly in the car with and the only mod you have to do is raise the battery posts with a few washers, they fit ace and are tight. Worth spending the extra for in my opinion.

hope this helps.

Col.

Col, are they 24.8 mm high incl. the chassis locator?

The 511 has ~22 mm between the chassi and center bulk. So you canīt use lipos that are higher than ~21 mm without modifying the center bulk or by moving the lipos rearwards.

the main problem with the LRP batts is they cost way too much, most of the saddles like intellect and venom dont have the locators, so its better to just have a tray in my case, the amount i save buying one venom pack compared to an lrp pack would cover the lipo tray

I think Frederick's lipo solution to the TRF cars are much better than Tamiya's own!

keep up the good work Sir

Just looked at jr-rc, he has the new LiPo tray. It says:

For TRF511 (Some modification with a file is required)
Compatible battery size (w/out modification) L:47.5mm W:69mm H 22mm)

Cost ~$25 + shipping.

Also Stella has got it in stock but if you search or the number there is no result. I think they will list it in the next few days.

Hupo set-up from the Euros .... he had 50g of ballast at back by lipo's. Surely this means the rude bits brass tray makes sense as you have the weight right down low (where you want it) and a lipo tray ??

@Migs - the LRP packs use Intellect cells... have taken one apart. So you pay 100% more just for the case.

And as for these holders, I think they're naff compared to Fredrik's which fit great, look great, work great and require no modifications...

That is very interesting indeed, they must think then that people will pay the premium for the brand name.
