Cat SX2 weak points?
Hi, I hope to start racing my cat sx2 soon but before I start are there any weak points that I should be aware of or I can sort out before hand?
Also can anyone give me an idea of the sort of spare parts and accesories it would be a good idea to carry? Thanks. |

the layshaft gears do seem to wear out quite fast. If you can get the steel pinion conversion it's well worth it.
Also a stegger brace for the front will help protect the plastic pivot blocks. For spares, front and rear shock towers and wishbones, hubs, spur gear. The usual basics.

Just had a look and the car has allready got the steel gears so thats one item off the list.
I did a search for the stegger brace, do I need the alloy pivot blocks to fit one? Is it a good idea to get the alloy blocks anyway or are the plastic ones fine with the brace? |

A spur gear for sure. I managed to strip my new one in less than 5mins with a 9.5T motor using a 25 tooth steel pinion.
Think I might have to try a 23 tooth one and mesh them together tighter than just with the sheet of paper trick Cheers |

the steering arms seem to break on 2 of my mates' SX2's. Alloy upgrade is listed. Plastic blocks on the fronts also.

Right, doesn't sound like too much needs doing. Hopefully I should be racing in the next few weeks and I will see how I get on.
