Here are the pics of my hottuna inspired X-60. I will test it out this weekend at a clay track where we use pink team losi taper pins and BK bars.

Hi, that looks great, 1 thing, make sure you're lipo doesnt get hot off the motor, I'm no expert but I cannot imagine that's a good thing.
On my X60 over here I add weight to the truck but less to the front than my x6 and more under the motor, so considering the weight blance of a stock X60 is further back than stock X6, I've moved it slightly further back comparitivley to a weighted up X6. Not saying it won't work for you, interested to find out!

Well, I put the E-speed fan mount on the motor. So hopefully that will keep things a little cooler.

Tuna, one of the great things about The Family is that various ones like to try out new things. We encourage it, and are proud that many Family suggestions have made it into production. So keep the ideas coming! And the race success! Yes, a flexy car can be easier to drive on some tracks -- that's why we have both the graphite and plastic chassies.

A bit further...
I hate working with CF It makes a mess, and cost me lots of endmills, but the result is good Rear end takes form Finish right out of the mill, quite good, although i used a dull endmill Slots for the battery "knobs", I don't know the word |

GT-2 front attached I didn't like how it's screwed into the chassis, the holes are right on the edges, it looks far to weak. I cut the front post, and added a CF plate between it on the upper side, and 2 more screws.

It's looking good mate. You've inspired me to try and have ago at modifying an old chassis to take the pack down the middle. Wanted to ask you do you have to use a low profile servo for the converstion. Or can you use a standard size one. Cheers Wes

With a standard servo you will get an odd angle on the steering link, if you're not able to shim alot under the ballstuds. Other then that it would be no problem, it's all up to what body you use.
With the X6 body it won't fit. With the Jconcept Illuzion B44 i will use, i think it might work, not sure. Worth to know from my test experience: I thought this would be a high grip car, but it accually has worked best outdoor on low grip dirt. Might be the layout of the battery, might be the quite soft chassis of the prototype. The new X7 is really stiff! It wasn't ment to be, i think it's just to well build I'm in the last phase now, building it together, test on sunday! |

Dont' get me wrong, your craftmanship is excellent!
My point was that Schuey managed to do this without making the wheelbase longer (correct me if I'm wrong) with their solution. Your car is now longer than most cars, right? (at least you wrote that your prototype was) And with that you have departed from "standard setup" and are kinda back to square one as to finding good setups. And probably there's a reason why the factories don't make their cars longer. There normally is a "sweet spot" for a given class as to chassis design. So, great that the battery is now in the center, nobody would argue that this is ideal. Then again, LiPos are lighter than NIMH, and the ESC and receiver also does weigh some. All in all I think a std. X-6 could be just as good or fast, if you play around with weight distribution using the E-Speed brass weight kit from Rudebitz. And you still have the short wheelbase. Again, not meaning to criticize your build, the work is VERY impressive! Just trying to clarify my views as to the basic "layout" of the car. So, unless you've managed to make your car with the same short wheelbase as the Cat... sorry, I then still think their solution is more clever! It'd be great if someone could do a wheelbase comparison of the current cars! If OTOH it now turns out that a longer wheelbase is better, I'll bend my head in shame!

No, i didn't. The chassis is 3mm longer then the X6, with the wheelbase adjustment, it can be more or less the same.

Totally love your craftmanship on building this car. Hope the car will handle as good as it looks...
Have built a couple of prototype cars myself, so i know how much hard work you need to put in it..especially with a proffesional finish like this. Keep up the good work and let us know how it handels

woooow, thatīs an awsome car !!! I like it and I am jealous about the equipment that you have (espesially the milling mashine). Iīm working with those mashines nearly every day, but im not allowed to do privat stuff =(
so keep on going what you do !! one more thing is, iīd like to see tha car build, till now i only saw parts of it ^^
