Just getting back into racing, and bought a Sanwa Gemini 2 radio set which is 40mhz.

I need some more crystals for the set, will any make crystals work? Do I need FM's?

All i know is that sanwa only work in sanwa gemini.
so your after sanwa crystals

Int a crystal a crystal, its just to alter the transmition singal to be of the same frequency?

I might be wrong though, be interesting to know why they only work in each specific transmitter.

Not necessarily; some work in others, whilst some can be picky. Safest bet is to get some Sanwa crystals.

27AM mhz is not fussy as to crystal wise
nor is 40am

but fm is diffrent
as i think it has a closer frequency?? hence some only work with the same brand crystals.
sanwa = sanwa
ko = ko
futaba = futaba

I have not heard of any mixing that worked with out interference ect.

futaba will work in ko, but as said stick to the manufacture

futaba and hitec mix fine too, have heard sanwa are fussy, as is jr if you come across that make
