Reducing aggressive acceleration
When doing the gearing to reduce punch it's better to go smaller spur with a bigger pinion whilst trying to maintain the final FDR? I.e great top end, but loosing the initial punch..
Sorry I think I know the answer, but just checking I'm not going made. I know the slipper has to be set correctly too. Will be running a 8.5 this weekend instead of a 6.5 as the track is just too greasy to put the power down for me. 6.5 will be kept for dryer grippier running and when the Cougar arrives the 8.5 is destined for that. |

Yes smaller spur or bigger pinion will gear the car up smoothing out the bottom end, but will give you a higher top end. You could also try the internal gears, (3 differant options). The std one is middle of the range, but you have one that will give you more bottom end, and the other less. Remember to keep the overall gear ration the same.
Thats the way I see it......

Many thanks. Think I'll also look into the optional gear set. Wonder if they'll adopt the same approach on the cougar

if your looking to loose a little bottom end either turn the speedo punch down or add a bit of negative curve on the throttle
if you have the same fdr by changing both pinion and spur you wont change a thing on performance other than move tho motor and weight distribution... |

Super, another part that can be inter changed
going with 83/24 on an 8.5 for tomorrow and turned the profile down on my tekin. If it's an issue still I will look at my Helios |
