RB6.6 slippy wood floor setup help
Hi guys,
I have a RB6. that I run as per the kit setup on a indoor track that is around 30% carpet and 70% ish slippy wooden flooring. (Video of the track here - https://www.facebook.com/HighlandRad...kkdN6nPaRGVkUM) I run my RB6.6 with Schumacher Mini Pin yellow or Schumacher Cactus yellow rear tyres and the fronts I run Schumacher Low Profile cut staggers in yellow. The RB6.6 is great on the carpet with the 3 gear lay-down transmission but I and other drivers are really struggling with front end grip on the slippy corners. If I add power to try and slide the rear, the front end will push wide and coasting doesn't really bite in either. Only way round is going slow or tapping the brakes slightly to get some rotation. Massive understeer! Is there anything that should work like for instance; 2 Degree Rear Toe in Vs 3? More or less anti squat? Would a stand up 3/4 gear box be better to give more front end bite on the slippy sections? Rear traction is ok, a tad slippy but generally ok on the straights and exiting corners. I would like more front end bite, or less rear grip on the corners to get the car to bite. More rotation in the corners etc. Any idea's or suggestions? |

Silly track
Have you got the brass front hing pin weight with the battery forward.
Once you get more front grip the rear will slip, get some more carpet . Lol |

Do you think the stand up transmission would help generate more front grip/less rear throughout the corner compared to the lay down I'm currently struggling with? More carpet, more money, need more storage, longer setup times ... The list goes on. It's just not a luxury we have right now as we have to build the track each night. |

Low grip
What's good for me may not be good for you so finding a set up that is good for you is key. I am no expert but I can say getting the brass weight is a must have option part. The Kyosho part is good but I have seen them bend because they are not solid , I think there are more solid and robust versions from revolution designs that may have a bit more weight to them. I much prefer the 3 gear stand up, for me it's a much smoother drive but it is not as quick. You have the parts so give it a go and try it.
Have you tried silver cut staggers ? |

Put more antisquat and some weight on front. No need for the brass thing, a bit of lead around the servo will do.

As you already suggested, more antisquat will set it to rotate nicely! You could always move your front shocks in on the tower, that will give you a little less going in, but more mid corner which is probably where you feel the car pushes.

Kyosho RB6 on polished floor
Club tyres - Yellow mini pins rears with cut down blue inserts (less 8mm width). fronts are yellow slim mini pins no inserts
RM configuration. Shorty with ESC up against motor, shorty up against ESC. Shorty set length ways 25 caster with 0 degree blocks 0.5 Anti-squat 3.5 degree rear toe in '0' rear hubs 23/24mm ride height 8.5T motor, 10 deg. motor fixed, 15 deg programmable. Punch level 1/2 max, at about a 23 or 24 / 78. 10 deg. drag brake Light weight springs and oils all-round, slightly stiff fronts, reasonable droop 2 degree camber. If you need more info. I can ping you set up sheet I've tried 3 gear mid, 4 gear mid, but 3 gear RM seems to provide the best 'grunt' and very stable / flick-able on this very slippery surface Hopefully this will come through: https://www.facebook.com/mark.cooper...4943679280779/ Last edited by mmobee1; 07-02-2018 at 12:32 AM.
